I don't understand why people are so eager to get rid of one of the RBs?

Dallas actually has GREAT depth at a position and somehow that's a bad thing? As long as the players don't get greedy for carries, can handle the committee work and realize that sharing carries can not only win games but prolong ALL their careers by limiting wear & tear, then this could work. If anything, that's a concept both Barber and Jones can understand, having done it in college; being successful while limiting the wear on their bodies.

Until a problem arises with one of the RBs demanding money or something, I don't know why this is even an issue..

Great post.

A part of the team that has depth and is effective and lets start a thread about getting rid of one of them... all of them.... sheesh

I don't think he is #1 RB material. He isn't a real bruiser nor does he have that top level speed. He's a bit of a "tweener" in that way. Don't get me wrong, he's a good back and a great addition to the team but he has to be part of a rotation as the 2nd or 3rd option to maximize his talents.

Thats what I thought. Completely agree.

Dare I say, its almost as if some want to "annoint" Choice....

I believe he is. I think these doubts that he's not elite in any way are what has pervaded his entire career, from college to the pros, and defined the way fans think about him. The facts have shown that he led the ACC in rushing and has put up #1 type RB numbers against the best defenses in the NFL.

I know he doesn't look the part but he gets things done. He's not as flashy as Felix, but has better production, not as hard hitting as Barber but still gets the tough yards.

He doesn't look like he's that good when he plays, but I believe he is. He just needs more opportunities to prove it.

I'll respectfully disagree with you as well. This guy is a baller. With 20 touches he would be off the charts. I like all three backs but the reality is that MB3 has 5 years under his belt running with a bruising style and Felix can't stay out of the whirlpool. I'm not confident any of this injury mess will change with either of those two. Choice is the most dynamic gamer we have at the RB position.

I'd like to see Barber stay around. Choice is proving himself as an anchor on this team. My vote today would be to trade Felix...but givin the choice, keep all 3. Tough question.

THE Best we get is a 2nd for any one of them...if we are lucky...this is a nonissue...we arent building our team too much with a 2nd....

Keep all 3 as long as possible, because they will get injured. Not all running backs have a short lifespan like Fred Taylor.

All three backs are signed through 2011, after which Tashard Choice will be a restricted free agent (new CBA might change status) and Felix Jones is good through 2012.

So we don't need to do anything for a while.

Marion Barber's contract will start to get more expensive, but the other two are playing for peanuts on rookie deals.

Money is a non-issue here.

As long as all three are playing well, why not keep them?

We've needed that depth both this season and last.

Our only problem at running back is deciding how to divvy up the carries, let's leave it at that.
that is why posts like this are so silly.

nothing will be done before 2011 at the earliest.
by then barber may be done or one of the other guys could be injured.

we are in no rush to do anything because we have and will continue to use all 3 guys.

half the teams in the league would love to have scandrick and give him a chance as a starter but we aren't going to trade him any more than one of our RBs.

I think we'd all like to keep all three if possible. The point is, eventually salary is going to be an issue, especially when Felix and Choice's contracts are up and need to be extended. At some point it probably won't be finacially feasible to keep all three.

Luckily, we don't have to make that decision right now. We should have more to base a decison on by the time this becomes an issue.

Barber definately has the least potential...but we couldn't resign choice AND felix so it will probably be one of these two. Probably Choicje, but I think it is a bad move, Choice has the same talent as emmit who would consistenly pick up 4 yards where felix is homerun or two yards. That's when it takes a good gm that we know we dont have.

Look around. Good running backs are everywhere. It's the one position in the NFL right now where lots of teams are real happy with their depth at the position.

Hey I LOVE ALL our backs but I just don't think they have as much trade value as some would suppose.

You need depth at the position. I say we keep our own.

I love Choice. He has amazing intangibles, actually all three of our RBs do. Choice also has great vision, football IQ, durability and leadership.

But Cowboys do not average 200 plus yards a game w/out Felix Jones. And the Cowboys would not have (have not had in the past) the redzone problems w/a healthy Marion Barber III.

I say keep all 3 for as long possible. Let's make that decision later.

Simple, Felix. And as soon as possible. While this league still realizes his raw explosiveness and is still possibly overlooking his injury bug. Get what we can and run.

Then I believe Barber should be removed from the starting role. He's not a starter, he's a bullpen closer/short yardage type. And the likes of one of the best in the league now, and perhaps even in recent history. We need to keep him healthy, rested and available to us as much as possible.

And the easiest move of all, making Tashard Choice the current and future long term starter for this team. He can be the work horse while Barber remains in the starring role.

Really though, Felix is just something more than we can handle at the moment. Even when he's healthy it's a pure battle just figuring ways to get him out on the field. Now with the promise of Choices workload increasing, this just becomes harder and harder. He's the one that doesn't fit now, so he needs to go.

We also need to look at contracts. IMO Barber stays due to his contract. Meaning sooner rather than later one of the other two will most likely go. Then Barber's contract will expire after that. Where he most likely won't be resigned after that unless his career seriously gets back on track. That actually just leaves us with 1. Now whom is it, Choice or Jones?

Only a moron of a coaching staff struggles to find ways to utilize Felix. He is BY FAR the most dynamic, most talented back on the roster, and it's not even close.

I would trade Barber if I had to trade one, because of his mileage and age. Not that Choice has really done enough to prove he's better than Barber, but he's certainly good enough to start.

Trading Felix would be the absolute worst decision. Maybe he's fragile, though the toe was simply a freak injury last year, but you don't just give up world-class players like him.
