Choice is the best back on this team.....at least presently.....anyone who disagrees with that, doesn't know football! Period.

Keep all 3, but trade Jones if he get's injured continually through next year. Use Choice as a starter, and Barber as a finisher, with flares of Mr. Glass Jones when he's healthy. Run like a madman on a 60/40 basis 100% of the time and we'll be a great football team. But this can only be accomplished when the pilsbury doughboy and raggidy anne are gone

So many wanting to get rid of Barber when Felix has shown ZERO ability to stay healthy enough to suit up.

Barber may get a few bumps and bruises but he's out there.

This isn't some big problem by the way. Dallas has these guys under contract for a couple more years. Sure, its inevitable. Inevitable in the same way that dying is. It will happen but nobody is forcing the issue.
Barber's been significantly hampered by injuries 2 years in a row now. He's at the prime age for a running back. The odds are that's only going to get worse the next few years, especially for a guy that absorbs the punishment that he does.

You can't trade Choice, because he has been the dependable one for the last year or so, and though he doesn't get a lot of credit for it, what he did against great defenses at the end of last year was nothing short of fantastic.. You can't trade Jones, because injuries or not, he does some things that we haven't gotten from a player since Dorsett was in his prime.

Finally, you can't trade Barber, either. Not because it doesn't make sense, but because you can't get anything for him. RBs are a dime a dozen in this league. No one is going to give us a significant draft pick and pick up his salary at the same time.

Reality is that we're stuck (if you want to call it that) with these guys. Which I view as a good thing, as long as they can accept that none of them are going to get 20 touches a game, unless someone else is hurt. So far, they all appear to have reasonable expectations and enough character to not let their egos get in the way of the team.

What could we get for a back who's always injured? Not much. Seems to me it would be better to keep him and hope the injuries stop and he plays like a superstar, rather than trade him for a mid-round draft pick.

They're not going to can a player who's made as many big plays in such limited playing time.

Barber....he is not a pure runner. I love his blitz pick up....love his hands out of the backfield. But he does not have the vision of a pure runner. Choice on 8 carries against KC had 92 yards. Barber did not come close to that with more carries behind the same OL and against the same defense.

If one of our backs had to go i would go with barber...His running style was bound to catch up to him. Jones has to much upside even though He's always injured. Choice isour best back right now period.

Trade both Jones and Barber. Run Choice to the ground and start over. Draft a decent, NON injury prone back up.

Barber will not be resigned after his contract runs out and Choice and Felix will be resigned when theirs do. Then we will draft another guy.
And hope we just didn't draft Julius Jones II.

and how exactly would you know a player is not injury prone? Jones was never hurt in college.

Barber's been playing hurt for a couple of weeks.

He shouldn't be but has been.

All three backs are signed through 2011, after which Tashard Choice will be a restricted free agent (new CBA might change status) and Felix Jones is good through 2012.

So we don't need to do anything for a while.

Marion Barber's contract will start to get more expensive, but the other two are playing for peanuts on rookie deals.

Money is a non-issue here.

As long as all three are playing well, why not keep them?

We've needed that depth both this season and last.

Our only problem at running back is deciding how to divvy up the carries, let's leave it at that.

Good stuff!

Mariano Rivera/Closer = Marion Barber/Closer
He will last longer that way. Its not popular on this board but I dont see Jerry letting Barber go anywhere.

Felix Jones - we have until 2012 to see if he can stay healthy

Choice is good but is he a starter? I dunno

This makes me wonder who is in charge. Wade came out last year after a few games with a hobbled MBIII and said that he thought we should have rested him. Now we have a similar situation and guess what? We still aren't resting him.

Makes you think.

You guys keep saying Barber gets injured because of his running style but his running style has nothing to do with the type of injuries he has had.

I don't understand why people are so eager to get rid of one of the RBs?

Dallas actually has GREAT depth at a position and somehow that's a bad thing? As long as the players don't get greedy for carries, can handle the committee work and realize that sharing carries can not only win games but prolong ALL their careers by limiting wear & tear, then this could work. If anything, that's a concept both Barber and Jones can understand, having done it in college; being successful while limiting the wear on their bodies.

Until a problem arises with one of the RBs demanding money or something, I don't know why this is even an issue..

I have no doubt that this staff lacks the sack to tell a guy he's gonna sit out until healthy.

I don't think he is #1 RB material. He isn't a real bruiser nor does he have that top level speed. He's a bit of a "tweener" in that way. Don't get me wrong, he's a good back and a great addition to the team but he has to be part of a rotation as the 2nd or 3rd option to maximize his talents.
