Ramsey's a DB so he doesn't have a DL mentality but he should have 100% been going for the ball instead of the big hit which did make Rush fumble. Just like Heath in the Green Bay playoff game. Little head's up things that can make the difference between a win and a loss and I think it did in both cases.

is that Jeff Heath ?

I just think it's not a glaring issue if the QB can get around pressure better.
In some cases this would be true, but there isn't much chance when a speedy DB blitzes untouched from the QB's blind side.

Yeah. At least he got in front of the guy. Lol. He didn’t completely not even pick him up. Find me a RB that takes on a LB running straight at him with a full head of steam. Come on dude you’re better than this.

Actually I would rather the other way around. That Ramsey blitz was very tough to spot. It was slightly delayed and he simply didnt see him. Zeke just gets rolled over.

I'm over the Elliott vs Pollard argument. Zeke is a better blocker, clearly. But at this point, maybe we should push back on why it's even a significant topic. Is the O line that bad they need everyone to pick up defenders?
Or is it like most teams where running is there job?

It mainly because we dont use our RB's in routes...when you leave them in to block then thier cover guy is going to come and if its a blitz +1 is also coming. The defenses are not scared of our RB's in the passing game out of the backfield.

Zeke is a better blocker than Pollard. Yeah no kidding. Zeke is the size of school bus while Pollard is a Ferrari. It's like saying you would pick Troy Hambrick over Barry Sanders because Troy did a good job picking up a block in practice.

I don't think the gap between Pollard's talent and Zeke's is quite as wide as Barry Sanders to Hambrick, but there are situations where you want the better blocker in.

This is overblown. Pollard missed a block once out of several good blocks his made. Yes he made a mistake. So has others. Why aren't harping on Lamb who consistently drops passes?

Zeke can barely break a tackle. He is finished.
We hear about it every time Lamb drops one. There have been threads and debates as to whether or not he's a number one receiver. This is one single thread about Pollard's blocking, not even about whether or not he should be on the team. (Obviously he's an asset to the team, just not with his blocking.)

Rush has to see that Ramsey was on the line not across from a receiver. The QB has to change the protection to account for the free potential rusher.

That's kind of where I'm at. The QB has to recognize a blatantly free rusher and direct things. Rush could have helped himself a lot on that play. Not saying he missed it but he didn't help his cause.

Ok guys.

I have gone back and watched this play 100 times now. And one instant truth has hit me. It is unfortunate but unless they put Pollard AND Zeke out there on passing downs Pollard may get whichever QB is starting killed.

He completely missed that blitz and that play right there could have turned the tide of the game had Rush fumbled. Anyone who questions why Zeke is in there pass blocking should literally watch that play. If they still have questions then it is nothing more than an agenda.

What are your thoughts on that play?

It was a mental breakdown. Pollard just missed Ramsey walking up late.

As far as actual blocking goes Pollard is fine and him getting more touches helps us win games unlike Zeke.

What he makes is irrelevant at this point. He's getting paid that amount whether he's on the bench or not. You have to do what is best for the team and if Zeke is the better block he should be in there to block.

At the same time, you don't want to be in a position like Dallas had with Martellus Bennett. When he was on the field, Dallas would run. Even if it was a pass, Dallas didn't pass to him. You just move your crappiest pass defender to guard him and bank on run, and everything he possibly offered was shot.

First sack of Ramsey's career. Certainly not something he is know for. Hard to blame Pollard if it was something that had never been seen on tape before. PS. That said, Pollard is no Zeke when it comes to pass protection. He has no anchor to him.

Its why Zeke is employed.

He missed it. I really dont know who is responcible for those adjustments i assume the qb since he has a better view at thst point.

Pollard has made many quality blocks including later in the Rams game but he has also made some mistakes.

It is obvious from previous games that they're coaching the RBs to focus on the A gap between LG and OC.

There was an almost identical play in another game when the CB didn't rush and Pollard helping McGovern prevented a sack.

A veteran QB would have seen Ramsey because he was rushing at the point Rush got the snap.

Good points. However, that was really the first time that I've seen Pollard blow an assignment. And the entire forum seems to think he just cannot block. He can. One incident, doesn't make him a bad blocker. It's like saying that Ceedee is going to drop all of his passes because he's dropped one.
