yes Pollard is important but his issues with protection are not overblown, they’re very real and a problem

I disagree. I think there have been few visible plays, and he's obviously not as good as Zeke, but for the most part he's not causing massive issues back there.

For me his running ability trumps a few lapses in pass protection.

Perfectly timed blitz. Sometimes it just happens

It doesn't happen if Pollard picks up the blitzer instead of protecting the middle when all the DL are being blocked. It was poor recognition on his part. The back is staying in on that play specifically for the purpose of picking up the blitz, and the QB is expecting him to do it.

I'm not going to overreact to it. I think it's just the second time this season that Pollard has done a poor job of handling the blitz. But I think saying "it just happens" is an oversimplification of the mistake that was made.

Ok guys.

I have gone back and watched this play 100 times now. And one instant truth has hit me. It is unfortunate but unless they put Pollard AND Zeke out there on passing downs Pollard may get whichever QB is starting killed.

He completely missed that blitz and that play right there could have turned the tide of the game had Rush fumbled. Anyone who questions why Zeke is in there pass blocking should literally watch that play. If they still have questions then it is nothing more than an agenda.

What are your thoughts on that play?
Fans that don't understand the game worry about stats...the ones that do understand, appreciate Zeke

Rush has to see that Ramsey was on the line not across from a receiver. The QB has to change the protection to account for the free potential rusher.

We have bigger problems than Pollard blocking at this point. As long as it's not over & over.....
That could have been a big problem in what was a low scoring game though. Rush actually fumbled the ball, but fortunately it stayed under him and he fell on it.

I am wondering why the refs didn't throw a flag on that play for roughing the passer. What follows is not serious but hear me out. We have all seen the ridiculous flags thrown this past week for roughing the passer on Jarret's tackle of Tom Brady and on Chris Jones' sack of Derek Carr. We have even heard analysts with a straight face defending the flags under the guise of "protecting the QB at all costs." So now I am confused. If a DT can get flagged for roughing the passer for merely making a textbook tackle, how is it a DB running full speed and slamming into the back of a defenseless QB, who doesn't see it coming, not get called for the same infraction. For the love of God, Rush could have suffered a neck injury (whiplash) from that hit.

For the most part, no, he's not causing massive issues. He doesn't get run over on every play, or even most plays. But how many bad blocks does it take to get your QB throttled, and possible injured, or possibly cause a turnover to lose the game? I'm not saying he should be scratched from the team, Hell no. I just think they need to either seriously improve his blocking or stop depending on him to block. A chip on his way past, sure, but don't have him in a play that hinges on his ability to keep anyone out of the backfield.

We could cherry pick all day long if we want to. Here is zeke getting destroyed on a blitz pickup

Yeah. At least he got in front of the guy. Lol. He didn’t completely not even pick him up. Find me a RB that takes on a LB running straight at him with a full head of steam. Come on dude you’re better than this.

That lapse would have cost us the game if Rush fumbled. Negating his long touchdown run. So no. It doesn’t trump anything

This is overblown. Pollard missed a block once out of several good blocks his made. Yes he made a mistake. So has others. Why aren't harping on Lamb who consistently drops passes?

Zeke can barely break a tackle. He is finished.

For everyone who wonders why Pollard isn't on the field more, that play tells you why.

He can't be trusted in pass protection
That's on play calling. Pollard shouldn't be used that way. He should have the ball in his hand not be blocking.

:clap::hammer:
Can't wait for him to be gone next season. Elliott's not even in the top 15 rankings any longer. Highest paid RB in the league. Overpaid & underplays. Talk about declining since pay day. And they complain about Dak's salary.

It was a very nice play by Ramsey, he has gotten better at that blitz. But Cooper just keeping the ball was also a great play.

Not concerned because it was recognition not a physical thing. TP was worried about Donald on the inside. Also, KM could split out TP motion then motion him back in to read the mail. Zeke does get the job done tho, but I don't think it's wise to throw away Pollard in those situations.

I just think it's not a glaring issue if the QB can get around pressure better.
