Please keep in mind this is coming from a former O-Lineman :)

The running game is to gimmicky, too many Screens and Draws!. What JG earns out of draws and screens he loses in the battle for the line of scrimmage. The Dallas O-Line is big and physical. We can move people off the ball. When you run a draw the O-line does not fire forward off the ball, they are on their heels SELLING PASS. When you run a screen, it's the same thing hold 2 mississippi and release. This may fool them from time to time but he is missing the point, how do you pound the other team with that style? You don't. Anybody here remember Emmitt Smith between the Guard and Center? Man he could hit that 2 hole with the Moose lead blocking on the LB. Felix Jones and Choice can hit that hole but their opportunity has been limited to gimmicky screens and shotgun draws, wildcat and at best maybe a few sweeps. What a night mare for our O-line. I know its not pretty or fancy but line up the I-Formation with a good fullback and pound it 30 times a game between the guards and off tackle with those 3 backs. Don't try to fool the defense with a BS shotgun draw for 5 yds, let them know your coming and pound it down their throat. When they start coming up to the line with 8 in the box, run some play action and take some shots down the field. JG is trying to disguise everything. Its foolish with the O-Line that we have. I can see Felix Jones and Choice hitting these holes and I know we have something special that is not being used right and with MB closing it down near the goal line and in the 4th quarter? Unstoppable. Our plays and personnel are wrong. JG's offense is based on the pass even when we run! He may look good on some weeks but we will struggle against better defenses, especially ones that can disguise the blitz.

Jason Garrett's problem is that he is incapable of adjusting to what the defense is giving him

Preaching to the choir, brother. I know I've posted this repeatedly, but I just can't understand why Garrett and Phillips don't see this. It's just mind-boggling.

No problem. Don't you have some more pointless hyperbolic drivel to spew?

This was all that needed to be said. Anything else is wrong or is just expanding on this point. This has been clear of Garret since his first year here.

To follow up a bit on the OP, the way Garrett uses our offensive line basically negates their strength, which is their size and power. As the OP said, we rarely ever just fire off the ball and bury the guys in front. We do use too many gimmicks, and doing so does not play to our strength. Since our O line is so big, it's not the type you want to have to move laterally too much. They're roadgraders. They should look at tape of our O line in the 90's. They did it to perfection and you can't tell me our current group can't do the same thing. Our big guys up front need to mash the guys in front of them and Garrett isn't giving them the chance. The way we play leads to a lot of penalties and poor execution. Got to match your gameplan to your personnel and we don't do that well.

Garrett either doesn't realize how good our defense is, or he doesn't know enough to care how good it is.

How many carries and targets did Felix Jones get today?

They have to get him more involved, or they are going to be in trouble in December. They can't just give up when it doesn't work.

Felix needs some space, and he's not getting it.

Roy Williams let them down today. He gave two chances to score away. On his 20 yard reception, I noticed that he didn't have the ball secure. He was holding it loose and only covered it up when he saw the hit coming. He was carrying it loose after he caught that bomb and didn't see Woodson coming, and he got stripped and fumbled. He had that one big drop that cost Dallas another chance to score, too.

Free looked like he played very well. I saw him pancake one guy when it looked like he would sack Romo.

The OP has a point. It will be ignored but that doesn't make it irrelevant to me.

We have a big powerful line that plays like a finesse line instead. I'm all for finesse in moderate doses but........

co-sign

he is one of the worse when it comes to making adjustments

he comes in with a game plan and once it gets shut down so are we for the duration of the game.

more often then not he cant call plays to take advantage of the what the d is giving him and go away from what is not working.

hell continually run the same non effective plays yet expecting a different result despite the failures

Good post. The Cowboys' offense is based on finesse, and finesse teams usually fall down when punched in the mouth by a quality opponent IMO. When giving the opportunity, the offense is a smooth-running machine. When pressed, the running game can disappear and the passing game gets out of synch.
