the problem for a line when you do draws, is that you have be quick to fill gaps and get your man

our line is not the quickest in the league, in fact, outside of Kosier, and maybe Davis, it's pretty sloth-like

While the offensive lineman on this team are some big dudes I don't believe they have the attitude to be "road graders".They are a soft unit that lacks the ability to be very good at any one thing. They do a decent job of pass blocking and a decent job of run blocking but excel at neither.Run blocking is a mentality of wanting "too" , this team doesn't have the mentality or discpline to be a consistently good running team.

You develope an attitude to run the ball by......running the ball. We dont' stick with it. We only run when we're successful right off the bat. We don't have the patience for it. There is no one on God's green earth that can convince me that our offensive line cannot run block and that our RBs cannot pick up yardage consistently if the correct type of running game is implemented. The running plays we do use do not use our line's biggest strength: it's size. Our line needs to go forward, not laterally or backward and then forward (draws). It seems that Garrett just doesn't get it.

if you look at the reply, Woodson wasn't even trying to strip the ball, he was trying to wrap up, but Roy made a move to break it, but the carelessness of the ball allowed Woodson's grasp to knock the ball out

Good point. Vela wrote that Williams saw him. I thought he just didn't see him, but still, you don't carry the ball so careless and loose in the open field. They have some really good players on the backend.

Difference is, Reid has a short passing game, which is effectively running. They also throw the ball out quickly.

While Reid hasn't won the Superbowl, he's taken them to the big dance and put them in a position to win...

This offense with Reid would be ridiculous...

Please keep in mind this is coming from a former O-Lineman :)

The running game is to gimmicky, too many Screens and Draws!. What JG earns out of draws and screens he loses in the battle for the line of scrimmage. The Dallas O-Line is big and physical. We can move people off the ball. When you run a draw the O-line does not fire forward off the ball, they are on their heels SELLING PASS. When you run a screen, it's the same thing hold 2 mississippi and release. This may fool them from time to time but he is missing the point, how do you pound the other team with that style? You don't. Anybody here remember Emmitt Smith between the Guard and Center? Man he could hit that 2 hole with the Moose lead blocking on the LB. Felix Jones and Choice can hit that hole but their opportunity has been limited to gimmicky screens and shotgun draws, wildcat and at best maybe a few sweeps. What a night mare for our O-line. I know its not pretty or fancy but line up the I-Formation with a good fullback and pound it 30 times a game between the guards and off tackle with those 3 backs. Don't try to fool the defense with a BS shotgun draw for 5 yds, let them know your coming and pound it down their throat. When they start coming up to the line with 8 in the box, run some play action and take some shots down the field. JG is trying to disguise everything. Its foolish with the O-Line that we have. I can see Felix Jones and Choice hitting these holes and I know we have something special that is not being used right and with MB closing it down near the goal line and in the 4th quarter? Unstoppable. Our plays and personnel are wrong. JG's offense is based on the pass even when we run! He may look good on some weeks but we will struggle against better defenses, especially ones that can disguise the blitz.

the problem is far too many fans take the very last example as the only example of production.

when garrett is doing good - people are happy.
when he loses, everybody is a critic.

we were looking past green bay and got bit. let's not make it more than it is.

I don't buy this at all... There have been many posts in recent weeks (even when winning) that we were concerned with the lack of running plays, as well as the style of our running attack.

Why do we refuse to run Choice and Barber downhill?

1st and goal on the 1... and we're passing the ball... Why?

Our redzone offense has sucked all year because we refuse to run it in the redzone. This just didn't make sense at all.

Because he is trying to catch the other team by surprise?

A size advantage isn't worth much when you can't blow people off the ball and I don't believe that this team has that ability. If you can't blow them off the ball you have to start using mis-direction or draws.

Adams......He's an older player that has had knee issues and plays a little stiff at times. At this point in his career he can't really fire off the ball,he just isn't physically able to.

Kosier....The smallest of the bunch who relies on good technique and pad level to win his battles. He's better suited to pulling than going toe to toe with a 350 lb. tackle in the run game.

Gurode.....He was touted as a road grader coming out of school and I still believe he has the ability to be a very good run blocker. He just seems to have a mental lapse at the wrong moment.

Davis......He can be a good run blocker if he maintains his technique, the problem with Davis playing guard is sometimes the defensive lineman get underneath him resulting in defeat at the point of attack.Lower pad level by the defense beats you everytime when trying to run over somebody.

Columbo...He's out

Free.....The jury is still out, although I would worry about him being strong enough to hold up at the point of attack.

Umm... we do it ever week...

We don't even use play action...

Its on the one yard line....

It was first down....

You have 4 tries to move the ball 1 yard...

I'm trying to figure out where Mr. Mismatch has been. Bennett hasn't even gotten on the field as of late when Dallas is in the redzone.

Last week before half when Dallas went 3 straight passes, Bennett was on the bench.

Today when Dallas got down to the 1 yard line, Bennett was on the bench.

Its pretty amazing that the team can't figure out how to get this guy on the field. 6'6'' and 265, should be a gimme from the goal line.

At that point in the game time was of the essence,if you run it and fail you burn alot of time off the clock. If the throw is thrown out in front of Witten you have 6 points. The play call wasn't all that bad but the execution sucked.

Now on the other hand if that series was earlier in the game I would be livid that Garrett didn't try to pound the ball in.

And we gave up a first round pick to keep a player we can't figure out how to use. 1 catch on a busted screen play per game or a 1st round pick?

I must have missed the carries where we ran it so well we could rely on the run.

What was the clock at while they were on the goal line?

The play is a safe play if the ball is placed where only the receiver can catch it.
