Thanks MattS4313 from the ranch:

Forget about Miles Austin

April 13, 2009

The Jets' courtship of Cowboys WR Miles Austin is "dead," according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
So much for that flirtation.
Evidently, the Jets came to their senses, realizing it would've been crazy to part with a second-round pick -- the compensation that would've been required to land Austin, a restricted free agent.
The restricted signing period lasts until Friday, but as of this moment, the Jets are out of the Austin sweepstakes -- if you could call it a sweepstakes. The former Monmouth (N.J.) College star visited the Jets last Friday, fueling speculation that an offer sheet would be forthcoming. But he left without a deal, and he isn't going to get one, at least not from the Jets.
It looks like the Jets are confident they can find a potential starting receiver in the first or second round of the draft. Now that they're keeping their second-round pick, it gives them some ammunition in case they decide to trade up in in the first round.

I don't doubt you Golden, but is there a link?

Edit: Never mind, I must've missed it. This is great news. I think Miles is gonna make some noise this season. Health is the key for him and Roy.

Yea I put it up there. I guess the only guys who think Miles is worth a 2nd rd pick are Cowboy fans who fall in love with mediocre players.:laugh2: However, I hope he performs like some of you think he will.

with the non success the cowboys have had in the second round. i'm not sure we should be comfortable having an extra second round pick..

quincy carter
tony dixon
jacob rogers
etc.

I have to agree, recently the 2nd round has been horrible for the Cowboys.

Martellus Bennett looks like a keeper, but it's still early.

Martellus Bennett looks good from last year..... But we drafted Anthony Fasano in the second round and traded him away.. There is something wrong with that to me. Just another example of a wasted second round pick with Fasano

Even the 53rd pick?

I wanted Austin far more than the 2nd rounder. We've spent three years developing this guy. We should be the ones who reap the benefits.

If he can keep his YPC around 18-20, he is going to play a huge role for us. I'm hoping he gets 30-40 catches.
