I am no fan of Jerry but even I would grant that he has made better moves than potentially improving the backup QB position by trading a mid round pick. If any GM had that as their best move for a single offseason they would be in trouble but to say its his best move in over a quarter century is just a little mean.

He is not playing the next 2 years unless an injury happens. After that he is a free agent who can go anywhere else. It is potentially an upgrade to the backup QB position but the backup QB does not really get snaps unless an injury happens so the upside is very minimal.

How do you coach injuries. They didn’t have time to wait.

In any scenario where the Cowboys are a serious contender Trey Lance is not playing meaningful football and ideally is getting almost 0 snaps.
