Dude you nailed it. The downfield threat of having Cassel in there was more than enough to open up the run. That line and DMC took advantage of space to operate. A more conservative approach in the passing game would have served us well. Cassel was nailing the intermediate routes. I have loads of faith that Linehan and Cassel will work out the kinks.

the 30 yarder to witten in traffic was amazing

i just dont think you get the run game going by doing that.

I think we could have been more conservative in the deep throws and still been wide throttle on the intermediate routes. Cassel was nailing those and success in the intermediate routes still opens up the run.

His Pick 6 yard a 8-10-yard intermediate route. So I dont necessarily believe he was hitting it 100% there.

The WR fell down. Correct me if I'm wrong. (with video pls)

TWill was most definitely standing still...which was the problem lol.

But still, the most devastating INT was a intermediate route, so I dont think limiting to that is the ultimate key to success.

I know which one you're talking about. It was the skinny post. I just think he tried to fit it where it can't go. Sorta like the way Romo was years back before he really got his mojo going. I really think that particular INT can be corrected in the film room.

Thats not to say we will have a perfect interception less Cassel against Seattle but having him on the field is a better option than Weeden from a basic level and I think watching film study of him performing in our system this week (good and bad results) will do him a world of good. It's about building that confidence to perform and see/understand every nuance in our system.

He unfortunately did more to set us back in 3 games than Cassel did yesterday. We should have shoved Cassel in sooner and just taken our lumps. He would have had an earlier start on self critique of game film and been better prepared yesterday. Oh well... Rue rue rue.

Cassel will give us an even better chance this weekend after having a full game of film to study and understand the nuances of where his plays could have been more successful. I think people sometimes underestimate the value of being able to sit down with a coach and go over game film of yourself. Not some other QB... You!

& the legend will live on in relative obscurity...
Not to mention, some forget that he hadn't started a real game in over a year.

I'm actually excited to see what Cassel can do when he gets comfy in our offense. So much more exciting than watching the legend.
Me too, it should have been obvious to anyone watching that Cassel moved the ball a lot better than Weeden did. That is what got my attention. Yes, there were some mistakes, but our offense hasn't looked that good since week 2.

I think attempting throws like that at inopportune tines is just not completely understanding the offense. Not trying to make excuses in any way. I'm just as pissed as the next person that we let another one get away. But... bottom line, Cassel now can critique himself in the film room (in our system), and we are only 1.5 games out of 1st place in a division where every other team had its own unique set of issues.
I heard the analysts say he was late on a few throws. As you said, he can learn from that. Once he gets his timing down he should perform better than yesterday, and that is a really good thing.

Disagree totally with the Weeden bashing. The Cowboys would've easily won yesterday's game with Weeden. Against a horrible Giants defense Weeden would've put at least four touchdowns on the board. Granted, he had a bad game against the Patriots, but other than that he's done well with limited options. In Cleveland, Weeden had the worst receivers in the history of the NFL, save for the often suspended Josh Gordon. Remember, Gordon set NFL records for receiving yardage with Weeden throwing to him.

Couldn't disagree more....Weeden is no starting QB, but I think we win yesterday's game with him. Cassel made poor decisions all game and showed that his arm is really a noodle.

You keep trying to sell that but in his last 12 games he's 0-12 odds are not in our favor with him. He barely throws beyond the sticks and he backs out of the pocket. You need to step up in the pocket to give your WRs time to make a break it also costed him to throw off balance because of that. He had 3 games and couldn't hit a WR to save his life the RBs had more catches then and WR with Weeden at QB. He's been terrible on 3rd down as well. There was nothing to show he could win that game yesterday.

Teams have to do their homework when choosing QB's. The Patriots could take a flyer on a headcase like Mallet because the HOF starter isn't going anywhere. Plus they have a Super Bowl roster every year.

Cowboys need to draft somebody this year, make him backup QB and dump these re-treads. Just find somebody smart and accurate. He can learn watching Romo the last couple of years he has left. And if Romo gets hurt again and he has to learn on the field, so be it.

Just don't reach for another Quincy Carter. Personally, I like Kessler from USC. But staying away from USC QB's may be a good idea (Leinart, Barkley, etc.)

I actually like Kesslers skill set. Living in LA I get to watch him a lot and he isn't a celebrity QB like those other SC QBs. Palmer is not a celebrity QB and he was very good and steady.

Since when has Weeden put up 4 TDs with us? Please this guy can't read a defense he rifles a 5 yard pass he completed 80% of his passes to RB. You sir are delusional if you think an 0-12 Weeden wins that game yesterday. That would've staked the box 8-9 because they know Weeden is worthless
