The Marty B trade that never happened

I know this was discussed recently on the board, but I couldnt find the threat...if the mods know, feel free to merge my thread with that one.

Still, wasnt it KC who was offering a 1st for Marty B? They are setting up to have a top 5 pick in the draft. Oh what we could do with a top 5 pick......like trade down to about 11 or 12 and add like 2-3 extra picks.

Of course, we all know that had we made that trade, KC would be on the verge of the playoffs right now, would most likely make it, win 1 game, and leave us with a pick somewhere in the mid 20s.

But since we nix the trade, they are sitting there with a nice shiny top 5 spot.

BTW, I would have been cool either way. I like Marty B, his personality is great. We need him to stop droppin those easy ones though and try to stay healthy. I like having 3 very good TEs. It gives me piece of mind that the position is one of almost very little concern. At the same time, I love the top 5 pick and the possibilities that come with it....keep it or trade down? how many picks can we get from someone else? all those scenarios are fun to toy with leading up to the draft.....

I thought it was Cincinnati which is why I was fine with not doing the trade, if it was Kansas City what the heck was Jerry thinking?

By the way, if there is a TE traded this off season, I expect it to be Chris Cooley. The Commanders have to be thrilled with Fred Davis.

You generally don't get a lot better by trading away young players who can play. I'd just as soon use the picks we've got to get the right players, and, if we do let someone go early, do it the way NE did this season letting an aging Seymour go with tread left on his tires. For example, actually trading Ellis after '07 rather than letting him go scott free a year later.

I said in the other thread this supposed trade will become the next AB for LJ trade. It will be talked about like it was a real trade but in reality there was nothing to it.

My money says that player was Chad Ochocinco.

Jerry was bragging about it b/c he took a guy in the 2nd round and saw his stock shoot up to a first round-ish level.(Cincy was decimated by injuries at TE)

Turns out it was a mistake, but Id rather not hear about it forever.

Passing on this trade isnt a killer.
Missing on Chris Johnson hurts.

If we would have taken Chris Johnson over Mendenhall and Felix, people would have **** their pants, myself included. So acting like there was any way we were going to take him is like rueing not getting Tom Brady in the 6th.

I wouldn't want Brady or Johnson on the Cowboys.

Not exactly the same

CJ wasnt a skinny unknown backup to Drew Henson w/ a huge forehead. He was a legit 2nd rounder then ran faster times than Deion.

I actually had it

Ray Rice
Jonathan Stewart
CJ
Mendenhall
McFadden
Felix

It was Chris Henry, not Chad.

Dude showed some nifty lateral moves last night. He has all season. Moves he didn't even have last season.

Maybe he had them all along and he just didn't need to use them because he's so fast straight ahead.
