This makes alot more sense than what's been bandied about.

That said, I'm glad we kept Martellus..

Yes, I'd keep Bennett over a 4th and a dead guy.

Despite all the tears in Cincinnati regarding Chris Henry's death, he ultimately is the type of player we have been actively avoiding since the Pacman debacle so I couldn't see us ever accepting him in a trade.

Geez, I'm no Chris Henry fan either, but that comment is a bit uncalled for.

I have no proof, but a friend of mine is an attorney for the firm that represents the Bengals. A few years back he informed me of the Corey Dillon trade a good 6 weeks before it happened. He told me it was Henry and a 4th for Bennett. Not a first. If you don't believe me, fine. No big deal. I'm just putting this out there because that's what I was told from a reliable source.
It might be a good idea to have the mods delete this and all the other posts that reference this. Not a good idea for an attorney to divulge confidential information.

Just a thought. Hint, hint.

Cry me a river - we don't need troubled players like him on our team. Based on the eyewitness accounts of his death (as heard on the direct 911 phone calls from two different people who saw what was happening) he played a large role in his own demise. This guy had a long series of transgressions before the one that led to his death. He is not the sort of player I want on our team. We should shoot a bit higher than that as an organization.

I deal with people who have had really bad things happen to them through no direct fault of their own. I save my sympathy for them.

How is Bennet any more proven than John Phillips?

You cant complain about Jerry the GM and the deteriorating OL in the next few years if this was in fact offered.

But a 1st round pick is no sure thing! Really? Lets dump all of our picks like the Commanders then and run away from the draft b/c its scary.

Having said that this should be the last Bennet rue thread for at least a few weeks.

After the seaosn, I would put Bennett up as trade bait. I think the kid is a flake and will never live up to his potential, just doesn't have the the maturity, mindset and work ethic for the Pros.

Jerry Jones said that he had a first round offer for a player from one team...

"We had a significant offer for a key player that we turned down, and turned down in getting in more extended dialogue for," Jones said before Wednesday's practice. "So we did have that kind of activity . . . but I shouldn't name the player or the team. It was a very firm, significant offer for one of our young players that we had a chance for a lot of consideration if we had wanted to take it, and we didn't."

"We could have probably made a 'now' impact and just bolstered a position, and significantly, and obviously we would have had a takeaway since it's a young player for the future," Jones said. "By the same token, and I'm talking about the type of consideration, first- or second-round type consideration, but the bottom line is this: Had I not thought that we needed that player right now as opposed to pushing forward in consideration for picks in the future, then I would have taken the pick option on it rather than the player."

Yeah, no kidding. Can't you get disbarred for that?
