The need for speed at WR. We'd be stupid not to draft one

Because when we went out and got Joey Galloway and Terry Glenn, in the past, they were so crucial to each of their respective Super Bowl runs with us. They were the "final piece" and we never could have done it without them.

Like remember when we had that slow WR Michael Irvin, and never won a thing because he didn't have the speed we had to have? Which is very similar to today, Roy is also slow. Sad, but we'll probably never win again until we get that "Joey" or "Terry" again, aka,. that "Fast Guy".

So OP :hammer:

So are you saying you don't need a receiver on the field with any speed, and that a 4th/5th round pick is akin to bringing in Terry Glenn or Joey Galloway? Your point is lost on me.

great posts and I couldn't agree more. After seeing the other day that RW isn't cutting yet..........we'll get someone at WR in rounds 2-4. Just hope it's the right one....they're a crap shoot to draft....

Except RW is a burner with 4.4 speed compared to Irvin 4.6/4.7 speed...

He's a burner IF healthy: he has to prove it again....I think he will, but we still have to cover our rear ends.

I'll continue to hammer this until the draft..if the best player at 51 is a WR we take him. We have alot of talent but not so much that we can afford to put need ahead of talent. Personally, I hate Ohio State but if you look at value, Brian Robiskie would be a great pick at 51. He will be a solid NFL WR from Day One and probably have a 10-year career.

I just think we can sit back, see who falls on draft day, and land a pretty darn good footbll player at 51. I know Jerry lacks patience and loves his name called on ESPN so it probably won't happen.

I would love to see us get Bey or Maclin, but that may be wishful thinking. But players drop evey year in the draft so you never know.

Heyward-Bey maybe.....no to Maclin.

I wouldn't be shocked to see some WRs fall to us. I think teams are realizing that WRs are tough to evaluate and develop.

Lets see now, you say first that Michael Irvin was too slow and never won anything. Hmmmmmmm, i guess those 3 super bowls that Irvin helped win, didnt matter, or all of those pro bowls that Irvin won. Best to my knowledge Irvin ran the 40 in 4.52,not great speed but he could get the job done.

Lets see now, next you say Roy Williiams is slow, but he runs the 40 in 4.44 speed. Alvin Harper burned CBs routinely and he ran the 40 in 4.49.

Need to study up on your speed times, etc before you say someone is slow or never did anything. Dont you think?

Landry said in an interview after we drafted Irvin; that he ran a 4.55 for the scouts. He said that at his size "that's really movin".

Ummmm guys? Ever hear of Michael Ray Garvin?? Played opposite Darius Hayward-Bey at Maryland..little guy, 5'8 170 pounds and runs a 4.24..

Oh and by the way..He set Marylands school record for kick and punt return yards, that's what we are all looking for right?..this guy can fly!! I've seen him play multiple times and he's just like Holiday at LSU and Sproles.

Plus he can be had in round 6.

I thought we were trying to get younger and more talented at WR? Oh, wait. You meant we have a need for speed at WR. I thought you said we could use needforspeed at WR. My bad. LOL
