if you want to decide whether or not *HE* specifically has a chance to recover, sure you do.
otherwise you're just playing the odds and taking a side to take a side.
wheee. look at me now!
actually i did not answer this post completely.
dr. cooper actually gave enough information that allowed other MDs to figure out a lot about Jaylon's situation.
he said the nerve was just stretched a bit and not torn in any way and the anticipated full recovery is between 9-15 months (note that full may not mean complete).
even without medical reports, that allowed the MDs (and even those who google) to classify the injury to within a reasonable margin of error.
by knowing the classification, there is enough patient data to know Jaylon's chances within a reasonable margin of error.
is it perfect, of course not, but even dr. cooper could not be totally sure - it is a nerve injury after all.
would access to the EKG/etc measurements been better, of course.
however, by roughly knowing jaylon's rehab and the lack of a follow-up surgery (no obstruction for nerve regrowth), one can deductively figure out that jaylon probably did lie in the expected level of injury.
googling can find the same classification and recovery information - which is part of what fuzzy did (and some of us also).
obviously formal medical training would be much preferred, but one would be surprised what they can learn from the internet if one tried hard.
it is of note that jaylon actually took more than 15 months for full recovery.
surgery was Jan 8 2016 and this is now 16 months in, though the definition of full recovery normally may not mean playing football...
furthermore, given simple anatomy of where the nerves connect to the relevant muscles, he can wiggle his toes now so it was likely that he was able to lift his foot before (yes, the FO was probably holding out on us for a significant amount of time, big surprise...).
it is still more than 15 months though, but we kind of knew that jaylon was taking more than 'normal'.
i posted about someone who had more recovery after about 8 months than jaylon did and the injury actually looked worse.
