Here is how the 2010 Draft is going to happen.

For the first time ever the NFL Draft is going to be a Prime Time event. This will be met with seriously mixed views. Round 1 of the NFL Draft will happen on Thursday April 22, 2010 at 7:30 PM Eastern Time Zone.

The 2nd and 3rd rounds of the Draft will then happen on Friday April 23, 2010 at 6:30 PM Eastern Time Zone.

The 4th through 7th rounds will happen on Saturday April 24, 2010 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time Zone.

Now I am pretty sure most aren't going to like the changes, but let's see who thinks what about it.

1. I love it. Prime Time is the right time.

2. It doesn't matter to me as long as I get to see it.

3. I am going to give it a try before I judge it.

4. I already know I won't like it. I don't need to wait and give it a try.

5. I hate it. Commercial gain has driven the NFL mad.

6. No opinion as of now.

I love it. The draft is like Christmas for some of us so the more days we can watch it, the better.

I don't mind the 3-day format but I think they totally screwed the Pacific Time Zone by starting it as early as they did.

Oh man, the earlier the better for me.

In all honesty, they could give me one round per day for a week and I would probably still watch every minute of it. I don't want that, but I'd do it.

NFL knows how to market like no other. First two days prolly gets alot viewers. By day three everybody will likely have had their fill of "the hair".

Agreed. Even 6:30 central is almost too early for me. I usually don't leave the office until 7:00.

Same here... as long as I get to see it, it doesn't bother me.

The three day format is a bit long as far as I'm concerned. I'll probably watch the first two days and read about the rest of the rounds on the team website.

I almost voted "Commercial gain has driven the NFL mad." They are getting very close to crossing that line. The last thing we need is the NFL becoming like nascar.

I work until 5:45 and on Thursday it starts at 4:30, Friday at 3:30. Saturday morning I get to wake up at 7:00 to watch it.

I'll try to watch/keep up on-line at work but 4 to 5 is our busiest time.

After the first round I get so bored with the draft I don't really watch it I just leave it on and check in to see who got picked by whom.

I was pretty indifferent to the change to be honest, still am.

Im going to give the format a chance before deciding but it is frustrating enough waiting for the first round to end, now we are going to have to wait almost 24 hours for rounds 2 and 3. Gonna be frustrating. Especially when we are finally on the clock at pick 27 and Jerry trades down.

The thing I like is there are multiple votes in every category.

I wonder if the additional off time in between rounds will encourage more trades.

I think it will. That is one reason I don't mind the change. Players can be involved. You see some of it to start day 2 now. But 2 days to work trades would be intense.

They probably are doing this for marketing, but the problem with their theory is casual sports fans, even some casual football fans arnt going to suddenly tune in the draft because its in prime time.

IMO they'll get almost the same ratings, because people who sit there and watch th draft start to finish are more than just fans of the NFL.

I didnt like the old format when they had the later rounds fall during the week (Monday or Tuesday IIRC) but I loved the format they had with the first three rounds on Saturday and the other four rounds on Sunday.

I voted I am going to give it a try before I judge it because I loved the old format but am not so sure about this new one. The good news is we probably won't have to hear about the top 10 picks getting reviewed as much as before. That always irked me.

How could anybody embrace a scheme based solely on greed? The league will try to sell it as being more "convenient" for the fans, but this is all about lining their own pockets. Same goes for tomorrow's late skewing 3 and 6:40 starts. Gotta milk every last penny out of those TV rating$, right?
