Packers are due to lose for sure.

Still, all this fear about the Arizona game is funny.

I wouldn't call it fear. Let's face it we've just narrowly escaped the last 2 weeks, and if were not in our game this week we could get caught slipping.

I have a funny feeling the giants are going to beat the packers. This could be coughlin's final stand. I honestly don't think the giants are going to pack it in, so I'm expecting a huge effort. I just want to stay out in front and keep whining. Philly has already imploded, and the giants are on the brink. We can't give the giants any life by losing on Sunday.

First and foremost, I am not even certain we will beat the Cardinals this weekend.

We just need to take care of our business and stop all the talk of when we are winning the East. Especially given our struggles to win the last two weeks.

The Giants game last night against the Saints was similar to the Cowboys beatdown by the Eagles.

I don't think either one has much significance. If we put pressure on Eli, we win. If not, he has good receivers and will pick us apart and we have to win a shootout. Home or away, it will be the same.

I don't like our chances if it comes down to a do or die situation playing the Giants at their place. We need to take care of business leading up to that game.

We'll beat the Giants in two weeks. I feel very confident about that. I just hope the players aren't looking forward to that game this coming Sunday. I doubt they are.

If we beat Arizona, NY loses to GB (both likely scenarios) and we beat NY the next week, I believe we clinch the division being up three games with three to play. After that, we can't possibly finish with a worse division record than NY (we could both finish 3-3) and we would be assured of a better record against NFC teams.

The final three games of the year might be just for playoff positioning.

There wouldn't be much positioning to worry about. No way we're catching either the Packers or the 49ers. And really, what's the difference between the #3 and #4 seeds? Neither gets a bye and both get home field advantage in the first round. Yes, as the #3 you would theoretically get to play the weaker team in the first round (#6 versus #5) but is there really going to be any difference between the two? I could easily envision the #6 actually being a more difficult matchup for us than the #5, so why should we kill ourselves trying to catch the Saints for the #3?

No, I think the greatest reward lies in the fact that we could essentially treat the final two games against the Eagles and Giants as preseason games, give the starters some extra time to heal up and recharge and get our backups some more game experience. And the fact that we would essentially be able to start game-planning for the playoffs on December 12th would be huge.

Something to keep an eye on. They play Pittsburgh in week 15, if they lose that game and we've won all of ours up to that point, then yes, maybe we think about the #2 seed. If they are still two up with two to play, I think we focus less on playoff seeding and focus more on playoff readiness because there is no way they go 0-2 against St. Louis and Seattle.

Really, I just want this team to be healthy and well rested heading into the playoffs. Then bring 'em all on because if we have a full complement of players, we are going to be one seriously tough team to contend with.

I took a look -- the fourth week of January might actually be warmer than the third week because February's average temperature is about 4 degrees warmer than January's.

The average high in Green Bay in January? 24 degrees. The average low in Green Bay in January? 9 degrees. Yikes.

Yes, Green Bay is a pass first, pass second team. But don't believe for one second that colder, windier, snowier conditions would be to our advantage. The warmer it is in Green Bay, the better for us.

Eli had a pretty successful day throwing the ball there in Jan 2008, but there was no wind to speak of. Of course, we'd be facing a young Rodgers on top of his game, not an aging Favre.

We'd have to pass both SF and NO, and neither has a terribly difficult schedule. It's possible, but extremely unlikely, that we'll be in the hunt for a bye. The one thing we do have going for us is that we control all the tiebreakers.
