And the survival of football is vital to University athletic programs which without the football revenue most of the other sports couldn’t exist without that financial contribution which translates to scholarships to kids who wouldn’t otherwise afford an education not to mention the endowments attached to the schools.

The trickle down effect is unmeasurable and why the NCAA has led in this effort with much success which the NFL must follow suit or face more scrutiny and liability .

The solution for the violence isn't rule changes. Its better tackling technique ,starting at pop warner...better running technique. No need to change or add to the rule book. At that point if the game is too violent, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN IT. Parents,not coaches or schools need to make that choice. Changing the rules for the parents sake is not the answer. When you sign up...you sign waivers of responsibility...because duh...ITS A VIOLENT GAME!! Lawyers don't belong near the sport.

It is still too early to tell what effect this will have so I am waiting to gnash my teeth and wail until I see just how they will enforce it, I can guarantee you though that before the 5th game we will see outrage that this wasn't enforced against one of the other team's players,

I can see it now. Cheater, cheaters, nasty wife beaters, the refs were letting them hammer us with their helmets. That damned Goodell is behind this. And Mara and Rooney were wearing helmets too.

Look on the bright side. They will be able to use that time they would have been using to figure out if it was a catch figuring out if it was targeting and a disqualification. I was concerned about losing that valuable time concocting a libation or dispensing with one and now I don't have to. You youngsters don't care but when you mature you will learn the timing as follows.

Bloody Mary at the 10:00 mark of Q1 means whiz break at the first TV time out of the 2nd quarter. Beer gets a different timer and it accelerates with each brewski. Well it's all about money. Universities want more players to make money for their schools on tv. And the NFL is trying to squirm out of paying for ex player's health bills. Even though ugly *** goodell has health insurance for life for his whole family.

Every level of contact sports has waivers that get signed when you want to participate...because THEY KNOW THE RISK...and so should the player! You have to be dumb as a parent not to realize what your kid is signing up for. DUH...ITS VIOLENT. lol...that's kinda the point guys..impose your will upon the opponent...hence,all the protective gear?! lol..Geesh.

lol 20 minute delays to examine every player for leading with the helmet. what a disaster. Rules made up by a bunch of rich people who have zero athletic talent with the only goal of making more money is a recipe for disaster in itself. Why the players have zero representation in rule changes is beyond me.
