Well in Zeke's case its different. All the other cases regarding DV went thru a court of law. Some were found guilty and other not guilty. The NFL is not a court of law and just because their policy says they can be judge, juror and executioner may not hold up in a real court of law.

Brady's case is different. Its not a DV case. He took it to court as well and had some of it overturned. Zeke is charged for DV based on shaky and unproven evidence. Thus there is a possibility the NFL will relent which I don't think they will. Thus dragging this out for a long durations.

If they went by her testimony and ignored factual evidence, then it will certainly go to court. The NFL may or not win. All evidence will be out in public to see and the commissioner will look like a fool for believing in a liar.

This isn't over yet. No one will win in this case and the NFL will possibly succumb to public opinion. This will probably be the straw the breaks the camels back and Goddell will be fired.
I feel pretty confident the only possilibity is reducing the amount of games and it will have no fallout with Goodell.

The only fallout with Goodell is if he hadn't levied a suspension which like with the Rice case he was heavily criticized from all fans and teams and why we're seeing the league not take any chances anymore if there any evidence of physical abuse regardless how strong the case is.

I haven't seen any criticism in comparison on this decision except from some Cowboy fans much like with Hardy and that number is shrinking since the decision Friday.

Agree. Far more criticism around Rice and Brady cases. On DV, they will continue to ERR on the side of aligning with the woman, and be very aggressive on penalty. Which is perfectly in the authority of RG per CBA. I think suspension gets reduced to 3-4 games and then we are done. If Zeke were 100% innocent he would take it further, but don't think he is so he takes it and moves on.

Well have to see. I've been on other boards also and now their starting to see the same thing as what Cowboy fans are starting to see. The more the real evidence gets out in public, the more the public is going to call for heads to roll. They already hate Goddell and they want nothing more to see him gone. They wanted him gone during bountygate. They also wanted him gone in deflategate. And maybe the third time is a charm where the public will say enough is enough and force the owners their hand and oust him.

Goodell is the voice of the owners and they seemed very pleased with his attempts to clean up the league extending his contract .

An Enforcer is usually not a very popular guy. The only criticism he's taken league wide is when he hasn't been tough enough. But I applaud the leagues effort at least attempting to present a perception they're trying to clean it up.

I'd rather see the league be safe than sorry. The fallout with activist groups publicly could be much more damaging to the league than over disciplining a player .

I think until the league feels like this DV issue is cleaned up they're going to be extremely tough on any situations involving physical abuse or violence to women.

The message should be clear. Tread carefully to everyone in the NFL.

Like I mentioned before the owners might succumb to public opinion. Just because he has brought the owners money, this case will tarnish the NFL. If it doesn't make the NFL look good in the perception of the public eye, he could be ousted.

I'm surprised that you applaud the leagues efforts in attempting to do something. But yet you failed to consider that he wasn't even in the hearings for both Elliott and Tiffany Tompson. Which shows you that all this is nothing more than a charade and its all done because of PR. The NFL doesn't really care about DV or victims that get harmed because of it. They care about money first. Then public perception second. If this blows up on Goddell's face and the NFL's reputation is tarnished because of it, I won't be surprised Goddell's will get fired for this.

He delegated the decision to a panel of four people. It was a smart thing to do.

I totally agree. The Personal Conduct Policy is all about PR attempting to present a perception the NFL is being tough on DV.

Always follow the money trail.

Yes I agree. . Its actually nothing more as a PR piece masquerading as policy. Its definitely made to appease the public.

Well lets see how smart the move is when he has to answer why he didn't show up for their testimonials.
That's part of why the NFL developed the panel of 4 was to distance Goodell from the process.

With a 4-0 decision from the panel of investigators it was basically a no brainer decision for him. How could he have gone against it ? That would have placed him in far more jeopardy .

Now the arbitrator will make another decision in the appeal making a recommendation which I expect based on Hendersons prior decisions to be between 2-4 games which Goodell will probably approve .

This process takes some heat directly off of Goodell directly .

Not only the public but activist and political groups , tv networks and sponsors .

It was never implemented to be just a mechanism disciplining players which the NFL couldn't give a flip about.

I've been very critical of the NFL on this while I do applaud these efforts however monetarily their intentions are because I can't stand the culture that's influencing the NFL .

I'd like to see much stricter rules like banning these players instead of just suspending them. Back in the day with Landry we didn't need a NFL mandate to release players with criminal behavior and drugs.

This policy comes up short because the greed of the NFL wanting it both ways by providing a path for drug offenders and potential criminal activity to continue playing while protecting their image . It's my argument we don't need this 1% problem players for a competitive and prosperous league.

I would agree to the 4 person panel if it was any other case but domestic violence. Where a case such as this requires to ask both the accused and accuser the hard person, and based on the evidence regarding this case, it would have been smart of Goddell to sit in at least in one of these deliberations.

He doesn't have to of course. But I guess he wants to show any reason for impartiality and bias he should showed up for the party.

He'll be asked why he didn't show up for sure and will probably used as ammo against him.

It's destroying their league. People watch sports to get away from things like this. Season's getting ready to start and this is all anyone can talk about. It just puts a damper on everything.

Exactly. I don't need a rundown of every player that kneeled down in every single game. But that is the reality of where we are at. We will get those reports every game. Then we can hear the talking heads spew nonsense about it.
