The No Cowboys Super Bowl

The Cowboys are still not officially eliminated but at this point they can win out and still not make the playoffs. It's a sort of limbo, dead man walking. The damage is done, the team is just circling the drain. This team isn't going anywhere this season so it's time to make the best of next season by earning the best draft position possible. Going forward this season, winning is counterproductive to our goals.

Somehow I didn’t know that. Which SB was the first that was considered the actual championship?
Super Bowl 5. The one the Cowboys lost to the Colts. The first 4 SBs were games played between champions of two different leagues. I think they were officially called AFL vs NFL games. Pretty much bragging rights games.

Sometimes I troll Jets fans and say the Jets never won an NFL championship. They have a fit. But they never did.

Clearly, the Cowboys will not be in the big game this year, so I thought it might be interesting to note the teams Cowboys fans would most want to see in the Super Bowl.

For me, in no particular order, based on their team histories, players and coaches I admire and current story lines, this post season I’ll be rooting for:
  • Minnesota Vikings…..appeared in 4 Super Bowls in the 70’s (1970, 1974, 1975, 1977), but never won.
  • Detroit Lions…..never appeared in a Super Bowl and perhaps the worst postseason record in league history (9-14), but they did win 4 NFL championships between 1935 and 1957, prior to the SB era.
  • Buffalo Bills…..appeared in 4 consecutive Super Bowls (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994), but never won.
Maybe surprising to some, but there are still 12 of 32 teams that have never won a Super Bowl - Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans.

What about you?
This is the backdrop for this week's Carolina team against Dallas on Sunday off that very list.

Chuba Hubbard eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the Panthers and he's proving to be a tough back to bring to the ground. Hubbard has forced 48 missed tackles this year, including a career-high 10 missed tackles last week against the Eagles.

The Panthers are last in the NFL in points allowed this year, averaging 29.8 points per game. The Cowboys are right in front of them, ranked 31st in the league, allowing 28.2 points per game.

Nice. Didn’t they also have consolation type games at one point? A little before my time.

Don’t be trolling anyone lol. We got our own problems!

I'm a little foggy on that. I'm pretty sure it is before my time as well. I know they used to have a game between the college all stars and super bowl champs.

Cowboys and Commanders are the ONLY teams not to play in a NFC Conference game in the 21st Century

NFC I’d probably go…. eagles I think

Any combination of those matchups I think would interest me
I thought the Lion in your name meant you were a Detroit fan… the betrayal, man.

Don't care.
Funny thing about the Chiefs, though. They are approaching dynasty, and still nobody cares. Small potato team remains small potato team despite their success. Nobody wants to watch them.
