The numbness that befalls us as Cowboys fans

Does everybody remember how Romo looked when he came back in the season finale and got one series at the start of the game? He was absolutely clinical. Straight down the field for a touchdown.
Against Philly. It was surreal

Fan apathy is where most Cowboy fans close to me have been for over a couple decades now.

It takes a complete mental adjustment . You still watch and root team on each game but don’t actually have much hope and or have lowered expectations. Definitely a numbness.

And as Couch Coach correctly stated years ago there is some consolation watching Jethro Jone$ struggling to have more success on the field . It’s become a double edged sword of sorts which we never expected having to endure.

Winning Super Bowl 30 was one of the worst things that happened to this franchise. And Jerry's mind he could win Super Bowls doing it his way, but everyone with just a small amount of intelligence knew that was our last Super Bowl we were winning the second it was over.
THIS!
Who can forget Switzer yelling to Jerry "We did it! We did it our way baby!" while hoisting the Lombardi.

THIS is Jerry's foundation for whom he is as a GM.

Jerry has just been looking for his next pair of triplets combined with any yes man coach who can coach up all the other talent Jerry brings in.

Remember, any of 500 coaches could do that.
That was and IS Jerry's mindset.
Nothing has changed.

Watching the eagles and commanders win this weekend felt like a Cowboys fan nightmare that I would wake from and be relieved it was just a really bad dream. A bad fever dream where you wake up and say, “Oh thank god….it was just a bad dream.”

But unfortunately it is not a dream.

And the pain increases when the new head coaching search headline includes the possibility of hiring Brian Schottenheimer, an offensive coordinator so pedestrian not a single other serious NFL team would even consider hiring him as their OC, much less head coach. Followed by the insane idea of having Jason Witten, a former great player without an ounce of college or NFL coaching experience, be named the “head coach in waiting.” Why any serious HC candidate would ever agree to work under this nonsense is beyond me.

Maybe we as Cowboys fans have just become so used to this level of front office stupidity, you just become numb. Like the numbness I felt earlier this year when I read that Saquon Barkley had a smaller cap hit than Trey Lance. All the while our owner and entitled son-sidekick lie to us that “we can’t afford any FAs”, while the good GMs with similar payroll challenges say “hold my beer” and get it done.

As Saquon Barkley was making his 78 TD run in the snow to clinch the eagles an NFC championship game for the second time in 3 years, all I could feel is the numbness that comes with being a Cowboys fan held hostage by an 82 year old fool who would rather have have personal comfort than a legitimate shot at winning a championship.
Jerry trades super bowl contention for mere relevancy. That's why he refuses to make the moves to get into contention.

His passes looked like lasers compared to Dak. Meritocracy and all. Clearly that's why we're gonna promote Schottenheimer.

I remember after a season ending, the wait for the next season was absolutely unbearable. Nowadays, the new season comes on too quick and l no longer look forward to it. I missed quite a few games last year and probably won't watch much more this coming year. After 30 years of failure, it's getting easy to tune out.

What’s spoiled about wanting a billionaire to act like he wants to win? Isnt that the point of owning a team. If you just accept mediocre good for you. Weird comment
Boyhowdy, that's weird even for Ranchy. Rooting for you team is now being spoiled.

Nothing wrong with cheering and wanting to win...stop putting words in my mouth...it's the constant beating of the same horse! What good does that do on a fan board? All it does is tear the fans apart. That's why I don't like it. This used to be a great place to talk FOOTBALL...Now it's all Hate Jerry, Dak, Micah, Stephen....that's what it has become.
Man, that's what you're doing, and worse than anyone. I rarely see you even attempt to talk football. It's just more of the same whining because you don't like what people are saying.

In my lifetime I've seen the split of 3 things I took for granted:

America (politically)
Star Wars fandom
Cowboys fandom. We're united now, but this next hire has the potential to split the fandom

I’ve been waiting on the Law of Averages to kick in for decades. You’d think the science would’ve given us something by now, but Jerry’s ineptitude is so legendary it even outmatches science itself.
Every time we get close, Jerry starts the ST's drafts, really bad trades, and stupid FA pickups. Jerry is what is keeping us from getting over the hump.

Why bother, I'll be called a Jones minion, boot licker, pee wee coach, Dakster, homer, etc. This board has been ruined by a few and good posters like you have taken there side....to hell with them and their supporters.

There you go.....whining about things you can't control...and I'm the bad one. How many times do you and your heroes have to say it, before Jerry listens? About as many times as I call you guys out. I'll keep doing it as long as you all do. Start a real football thread, I'll be glad to comment.
