The official hang Bledsoe thread

you're on your "we need an elite qb" nonsense when in fact bus drivers have won superbowls and many playoff games for years and years.

troy was a bus driver in norv's offense (remove our OL, emmit/michael and our D and he'd never have a ring sorry).

drew CRASHED the frikin bus after the 1st TD. any backup could have kept this game close, if not taken an easy victory today ringing up the Jags for point after point (even with another gimp at K).

Couldn't be any more off base with this statement. ludicrous.

There are times like this when I wish the braintrust would listen to the kneejerk reactions.

It would be a brutal price to pay in terms of losses, but the comeuppance would be outstanding.

Aikman a bus driver?

I didn't realize bus drivers were asked to go out and complete 68.3% of their passes, have a high yards per attempt(8.7), throw a high TD percentage(6.6%) and a high QB rating(107.3). Those are Aikman's numbers in 11 playoffs games from 1992-1995 when Dallas won 3 of 4 Superbowls.

Most bus drivers are asked to do much less than that in crunch time and maybe for a few games at most. The typical "just go out there and don't lose it for us". Those numbers point to Aikman going out there and helping the team win.

Applause.

Thank you.

not sure what the harm would be in giving Romo a series every now and then because otherwise...you NEVER know.
What's the worst he could do...? Throw an INT? Add to Bledsoe's 3 already?!?!?
these days, every QB has to be able to move a bit to avoid the rush and find throwing lanes. Bledsoe is flat out unable to do that. Gets passes batted, his throwing arm hit, rushed, or just sacked way too often. You don't have to be Vick....you just have to be able to move your feet, feel the rush, and throw a few passes on the run. Romo can do that. Not sure he's our savior, but you have to be curious at this point....

Aikman was no bus driver and bus drivers don't win crap unless you have elite players all around them practically everywhere. You win with good to great QB's.

If Aikman was able to look to you like a bus driver it's because HE and the team around him was talented enough to pick the secondary apart when they needed to.

Emmitt wouldn't have the most yards in history of the NFL with little threat of a passing game and a bus driver QB.

Did you watch the games back then?

But that's not what the howling is about.

Jerk Bledsoe, insert Romo and win a Super Bowl with this team. That's the mantra.

No way, no shape, no how. Parcells will give conservative a new name. Want an example? Thanksgiving 2004. "You can lose the player."

Sound familiar?

Meanwhile other coaches aren't losing these players. Apparently only Parcells can misplace them.

Aikmans' HOF introduction, Norv said he'd take him over anyone to win a big game. That isn't a bus driver, that's a race car driver.

Don't agree Hos. Romo passed his pre-season tests with "flying colors" according to Bill. Its out of the "losing the player" stage for ROmo, Bill deems him ready. Numerous reports have said they are comfortable with ROmo if Drew goes down, which is probably an additional reason Henson is no longer here.

That said, obviously I don't see a switch forthcoming. But the "losing the player" argument no longer applies to Romo, I think Bill views him as one now.

And when we get the #1 overall pick again in the draft. maybe we'll get one.

In the meantime, reality is what it is. You don't find Aikman's at #18, and in a parity driven league trading massive picks to move up for a guy who may just as well bust doesn't make sense anymore.

that's not exactly a ringing endorsement, that means he barely passed

but I agree that we are passed the not-losing the player phase, but we're still in the best chance to win phase

Mark my words, if he plays this year the offense will be so vanilla you'll be screaming obscenities at me.

Tom Brady was found in the 6th round, so I beg to differ. We haven't tried to truly develop a QB since 1989. Just the facts...

So you're advocatong the "Win the Lottery" strategy?

Isn't that what we just tried with Henson?

Parcells coached Quincy into the playoffs with an offense so vanilla it made snow look black.

With more talent all around, I honestly could care less about a complicated playbook. Its about execution to me, and always has been.

... was Bledsoe then I would say let's consider a change. But given the problems we have seen in other areas of the team I wouldn't make the change.

There's no guarantee that Romo would fare better if our kickers still miss FGs. Romo doesn't make the line better run blockers.

At this point I would fear that a change to Romo would usher in the end of our playoff hopes.

Oh yeah... like Troy did.

Tell me how "mr elite" did from '96 until he was dumped?

You're right about that at this time. In the past (ie Henson 2 yrs ago) i'd consider "you can ruin the guy" but if Romo is "ruinable" today then either Tuna has lost it and/or Romo just ain't any good.

Another "lets throw away a winnable game" by Drew and the vultures are going to be swarming.
