***The Official Roy Williams Gripe Thread*** | MERGE |

Roy made two big mistakes today (in my mind the dropped pass was a much worse mistake) that were not a function of Roy and Romo not being on the same page.
I wish it really were just a matter of them not being on the same page.

Yea it is lol. I'm griping about the criticism Roy is getting lol. Maybe we should create a "Gripe about the criticism of Roy Williams thread lol. "

Can someone explain this to me? Braylon Edwards gets traded to the Jets and if I am not mistaken catches a touchdown in his first game as a Jet from a Rookie quarterback. Roy has been with the Cowboys a full season and a training camp and we are still waiting for the ROI on this guy. He is not a number one. The relationship between QB and WR are pretty simple, I throw, you catch. Mastering this concept at this stage of the game between two players like Romo asnd Roy should not be an issue unless ineptitude is a concern. Roy has all the tools, but something is obviously missing and I think the guy has more thank a few rooms vacant upstairs. I am willing to bet that most the miscues Romo had with RW11 this season were the result of Roy not knowing the playbook, period. Considering his salary that is inexcusable and Jerry should take him to court over it.

What's frustrating with Roy is that it's always "something." Whether he hasn't figured out the offense or Romo, is dinged, is dropping passes, etc. It's always something holding him back.

On the plus side, we saw some big-play ability from him today. Getting a 100-yard game was nice; the Cowboys weren't getting but 15 percent of that a few weeks ago. Seeing passes go to where Roy is actually standing was also a plus.

I'm encouraged by those things, and how he and Romo seem to be on the same page. I'm less encouraged that he once again has given people "something" else to chew on as to why he is a bust.

My biggest fear remains, and was only reinforced by today's game. That he's a phyiscally gifted player who can do good things on a football field -- but is he really a player that can help you win a Super Bowl?

It's called being a homer at all costs. Anybody not a Cowboy fan can see how garbage Roy is.

I would just like to say that I think RW is coming along. He and Romo have obviously been doing some things.

It will happen.

Good game Roy. We just wish you would show up a bit earlier in them.

Love ya...but no more fumbles please?

Roy Williams is a mediocre WR, with a two cent head.

And yes this deserved its own thread. There has been a contingent on this board that is sooo convinced Roy is a #1 receiver and its completely Tony's fault for them not having good chemistry.

Dude is a scrub, he constantly makes excuses, he never performs, and we're paying him like he's Larry Fitzgerald.

But he can block.

Pretty weak when he tried to make it look like the lights got in his eyes when he dropped that pass.

OK, you changed my mind, thanks!

Tell me about his 4.4 at the combine. Tell me about his padded stats with Detroit. Tell me about how he will go get the ball even if he's covered.

He is the 3rd best WR on our team, and the 4th best receiving option.

If it wasn't for that contract and those picks he would be battling for the starting job with Patrick Crayton.

Your turn.

I would add that he also has the talent and skill set to be great which makes it all the more frustrating at times.

He was embarrasingly bad today.

In his 19 games as a Cowboy he's had 1 decent game. But he'll block the **** out of your ***.

It's a real shame, because he has all the talent to be a top 5 receiver. He has the speed, the frame, and yes, the hands. Not being on the inside, I don't really have a read on what the problem is.

If you watch the game and focus on him, it looks like he takes some plays off. He loses concentration. He just doesn't do the little things that make good players great.

He's basically a tease. He's inconsistent right now, and his mistakes are costing us drives (and today, a game).

Having said all those things... he's hardly a scrub. That's a bit harsh.

1st, 3rd, and a 6th.

5 years 45 million dollars.

For a guy that on a Jimmy Johnson coached team - would be battling for his job with Patrick Crayton. Probably would've lost it after today.

On the bright side, the ball and him seemed to be in the same vacinity on a regular basis. I think he and Romo are getting their timing down. It's just too bad that it didn't turn out better.

I really didn't think he was as awful as people are proclaiming today. But I knew that was going to be the case when we lost and he had that fumble and dropped pass. I knew that people would act like the guy was just absolutely horrific on the day because of those two bad plays.

He had a couple really bad plays, as all players do, but I don't think he was horrific today and I don't think he's the biggest reason we lost either.
