Other front offices make plenty of mistakes, too, ya know. Jerry had a span in which he was bar none the worst general manager in football. The span lasted a good decade, if not longer.

But if you ask me, we've been among the better teams in the league in acquiring (drafting/signing) and developing talent since Parcells took this team over.

Yeah, Carpenter was a bust. Spears isn't quite a first-round-production player. Stanback was a reach. The Roy trade was a mess. But look around, other teams are missing too.

For the misses, we've come up with a number of steals and, quite frankly, deft moves. Far, far outweighing the bad.

And while there are a number of players on this team for which Parcells gets the credit, we have a bunch of new guys now that Parcells had nothing to do with.

People keep saying this but I really don't think it is true. He is a really good DE against the run and can play NT in a pinch. He hasn't been much of a pass-rusher but he has been a quality starter all 5 years here. My only worry about Spears is his knees and how many years he'll be able to play in terms of giving him a big long-term deal. If he'd take a deal like Igor, I'd keep him.

On Stanback being a reach/project - that is true. He does have ability but he just couldn't stay healthy during his stint with us. Belichek must also think there is something there as he is on the Pats active roster now and even started two games for them. Anyhow, there are many 4th rounders who never end up being significant contributors. Reaching is when you draft a guy like Stanback in the 2nd round. 4th round isn't that abnormal. Besides, wasn't this guy Ireland's guy?
