The Onus is now on the offense

If they can add an OL, RB and stud TE, in the next 3 rounds it would address the rest of the offensive needs

Getting a legit kicker later would be the icing on the cake……I know they won’t address the Qb position even for depth

I'd love to get Ryland in round 7. He'd be a good answer at kicker.

I have a feeling, if the offense some how struggles this year with this defence and the amount of short fields we are going to have, that there might be a QB selection on the way next year. In fact, there's a chance in round 4 they might go QB with the guy from Stanford. How ironic would that be that we get yet another good QB prospect in round 4? I could see a scenario where we go QB this year in round 4 and, if the offense flops, go QB round 1 next year. Especially as Dak (assuming the FO doesn't extend him, or leaves an out possible for 1 June either next offseason or the one after) could be on a short leash with his current contract situation.
Mama mia! Ima good witha that.

With the selection of Mazi Smith, I think the onus is now on the offense. This defence is complete. We have two NTs (including, imo, a beast with Mazi Smith), Micah Parsons, a dynamic pass rush, a loaded secondary, and now the ability to stop the run. The offense MUST take advantage. They are likely going to get more short fields this season as a result of the pick last night. I look for the Cowboys next picks to be for a OL player and a RB. I'd also like Tre Tucker in round 6. Doing this should put the offense in a spot where they'll simply have to succeed.

In other words, the offense now likely has no excuse if they don't succeed. This is probably the best the defence has been since Jimmy was here. All the offense has to do is drive the bus, score points, and not turn the ball over. If they can do that, great things will happen for this team.
I don't see how you look at this defense and come to that conclusion. Neither of these NTs could start for our division rivals. Mazi is an upgrade on the DL but this isn't a top 5 defense let alone a Jimmy Johnson level defense, and we certainly haven't closed any gaps on the Eagles. They addressed the same position with a much better player.

The onus can be on the offense if they fill all these holes in the next two days.

There is always an excuse.

Starting te gone
starting lg gone
Zeke gone, pollard coming off injury
Steel injured
Tyron can't stay healthy
Mike's play calling sucks

And I'm sure there will be more.
Well you just listed all the problems right now with the personnel. Minus the Zeke and pollard part.

Until the Cowboys fix that Oline with a stud guard, they will be inconsistent in both the run and the pass and struggle against great defenses.

Thats just football right there.

We'vehad 3 1st team All-Pros on the O-line and a RB that won the rushing title by over 300 yards all in the same season and didn't win a playoff game.

Yup.

That's the problem.

Perhaps, but I think the key thing is that, as long as the offense doesn't make stupid turnovers and gets points on the board, essentially drive the bus, then the team will do great things this season. This defence can carry us a long way as long as the offense just drives the bus. Especially with the short fields we will have, which should lead to points.

I get that some may not be as high on Mazi Smith as I am. However, I think the fact that we have two very good (imo) NTs means that I expect our run defence to be improved in a large way. As a result, we should be able to benefit from additional 3rd and 5+ situations, which is where our pass rushers can finish the job. Thus, the onus will be on the offense to drive the bus and do their job.

Yah, thats ridiculous. This offense will need to score points like they did last year. And they cant fold against the Niners every year. We need to fix the offense as much as the defense. Its the opposite to me.

Get an OG today, and either a TE or RB, preferably a RB.

Supposedly the draft is deep at RB and TE, but which is deeper?

Whatever position is deeper, wait on that until the 4th round. Unless they trade up.

You guys will never truly be happy with the defense because the league is not built for defenses to be successful.

The league is built for teams who make explosive plays to win the most games.

I don’t care what we have on defense when we play these elite QBs they’re still going to get theirs regardless of what we have on defense.

Our offense needs to get better and it starts with Dak not going into a shell in big games.

We can’t play the NFC East and pad stats come playoff time.

I agree that there are spots that need to be addressed on offense, and I think they will between today and tomorrow. However, I think this team is nicely set up on defence at least. I think all that's left to address on this team is Oline, RB, WR/TE (maybe), and a kicker. I suppose maybe also a LB of we really want to.

Honestly, I think Dak has 100% been surrounded by enough talent. I think we've drafted very well for the most part.

I mean we've had enough talent to go 5-1 with Cooper Rush the last 2 years.

The problem is when you need something, anything, from the QB you don't get it. Dak is a front runner. He's not going to will a team to victory or ever put a team on his back when everything isn't perfect.

You could substitute countless other QBs into Dak's spot and you're going to get the same results in terms of team success.

I know it's cliché, but we really are one of those rare example of being just a QB away. But, like you said, it's unforntunetley a position that Jerry doesn't consider important.

thats why day 2-3 is so vital. We must address team speed at the skill positions starting today. Lets hope we can marry that with BPA. 0 reaching.
