The Onus is now on the offense

The defense isn't any better today than it was last year. The onus is on the offense, specifically the passing offense, but that is true for every team in the NFL.

Defense is a secondary priority to offense.

I think it's improved because our run defence was abysmal. It had been for 10-15 years. Now it should be much better. So, the offense should be able to take advantage of that. They can't blame the defence at this point.

The run defense was fine last year.

The only consistently effective run defense is to score points, anyway.

Yes, scoring points is important, but, when we're on defence, we need a NT to shut down the run. This helps give us shorter fields. I think we are going to see more of those. When we get those, they must result in 7 points. This offense is more than capable of scoring, especially with short fields.

With the selection of Mazi Smith, I think the onus is now on the offense. This defence is complete. We have two NTs (including, imo, a beast with Mazi Smith), Micah Parsons, a dynamic pass rush, a loaded secondary, and now the ability to stop the run. The offense MUST take advantage. They are likely going to get more short fields this season as a result of the pick last night. I look for the Cowboys next picks to be for a OL player and a RB. I'd also like Tre Tucker in round 6. Doing this should put the offense in a spot where they'll simply have to succeed.

In other words, the offense now likely has no excuse if they don't succeed. This is probably the best the defence has been since Jimmy was here. All the offense has to do is drive the bus, score points, and not turn the ball over. If they can do that, great things will happen for this team.
i see OG(Avia), RB, and maybe a TE coming today, maybe they trade up go get who they are after.

I believe it's clear as day that we're trying to make this a defensive team. There's no question about what direction this team is trying to go.

That's what you have to do when you have Trent Dilfer playing QB.
Interesting. Why not state a name with a lesser career resume than Dilfer?

Why this is wrong mentality, the fact is dak has had a loaded players around him and couldn’t get it done. No point in kicking the same can after nine years. We need a defense to save his butt bc last year was a good example of doing nothing with short fields given to him. He hangs the defense out to dry by going three and out and d can’t hold up when they give him the ball back and he does same thing again. We need to be two and three deep on defense bc your boy just isn’t that good
What loaded players were those? Zeke, a bad Oline, Only Lamb to throw to? Against the #1 D in the NFL? One quarter and a game away from the SB? Did you think the Cowboys were a better team than the Niners? They werent. If you did thats on you.

Its not the QB's job to win SB's. Thats a team responsibility.

You going to get rid of the whole team?

took schooler at first im like who? but after a lot of watching film that was put out and hearing about this kid Hes Schultz with better blocking. why not?

I also think he will be an upgraded Schultz. The blocking from Schultz left a lot to be desired, and Dak now has another safety blanket.

If you think Dak feels any pressure you'd be wrong. He has plenty of apologists to point fingers at others and keep the blame off him.

I don't pretend to understand the draft strategy of the Cowboys. I'm just a bit worried that they did not address the RB aggressively. And I don't mean in the 1st or 2nd round. I mean in the 3rd or 4th as a successor to Pollard. Their approach baffles me. If Pollard gets hurt our season is over.

Not sure why people can’t see the reason for the D heavy draft, Dak craps his pants when the pressure is on so they finally realize he is a bus driver and they need a D to hold opponents to less than 10 points in the playoffs to have a shot. Dakchoka needs the D to carry him just the way it is.

How is it when two of top 3 picks go to defense that it puts more onus on the side that got less?

The reason is because the offense does have weapons. If Dak can just drive the bus and not make dumb decisions, then I think the team will succeed.

I like Vaughn. I think he's going to be a great choice
