The Onus is now on the offense

How is it when two of top 3 picks go to defense that it puts more onus on the side that got less?

Also, it's because I'm expecting that we will be getting a lot of short fields. The onus is on the offense to take advantage of that and score. Like I said, Dak just has to drive the bus and score in those spots.

With the selection of Mazi Smith, I think the onus is now on the offense. This defence is complete. We have two NTs (including, imo, a beast with Mazi Smith), Micah Parsons, a dynamic pass rush, a loaded secondary, and now the ability to stop the run. The offense MUST take advantage. They are likely going to get more short fields this season as a result of the pick last night. I look for the Cowboys next picks to be for a OL player and a RB. I'd also like Tre Tucker in round 6. Doing this should put the offense in a spot where they'll simply have to succeed.

In other words, the offense now likely has no excuse if they don't succeed. This is probably the best the defence has been since Jimmy was here. All the offense has to do is drive the bus, score points, and not turn the ball over. If they can do that, great things will happen for this team.
LOL.................Is the onus still on the offense after this draft?

That is putting the onus on the defense to give short fields. You are doing some serious mental gymnastics to get to your scenario.

This is true, and I think the defence is more than capable of accomplishing it. In fact, I can see the defence being a reason we score points. The pass rush we are going to have will make getting pick 6s so much easier.

I think the defence has to live up to expectations, and I think they will. I'm just a tad worried about Dak. I love the Vaughn pick. I think he's going to to be fantastic. I like that we got Asim Richards. I think he's better than Ball, and I think we will be delighted with that pick. He and Waletzco will make decent depth. I like the UDFA prospects we have at WR. I think our WR group and TEs look to be in good shape. I think, overall, our team is ready. The only concerns that I have are kicker, and a bit involving Dak. That's why I said that I think, as long as Dak just drives the bus and gets us points as he's supposed to, this team will do great things this season. I think we are going to be deadly against the run, and our pass defence is going to be powerful. I think we have a great chance of seeing points being scored by our defence with how good that unit is going to be. That's why I say that about the onus.
