You guys will never truly be happy with the defense because the league is not built for defenses to be successful.

The league is built for teams who make explosive plays to win the most games.

I don’t care what we have on defense when we play these elite QBs they’re still going to get theirs regardless of what we have on defense.

Our offense needs to get better and it starts with Dak not going into a shell in big games.

We can’t play the NFC East and pad stats come playoff time.

However, that is why i stated the onus now is on the offense. We've built a great defence. You do need a defence, even in today's NFL. We have weapons at WR, and I want another WR in this draft to add to it.

Also, when I said offense, I was indirectly referring to Dak. The onus is on him to get this team where it needs to go. He's got the defence. He's got a system with the WCO now that I think will fit him better. He's got a coordinator in Schotty who I think will be better for him than Moore was. He's got an improved QB coach this year. Jerry has built almost the perfect team for Dak. All he really has to do is drive the bus. It's why I was saying, I could see a QB being taken next year if he falters. Jerry couldn't have given him a better defence. I've defended Dak for a long time, and I'll always support him because he's the QB. However, at the same time, my expectations for him are much higher now than they were a few years ago. He played well in 2021. His interceptions annoyed me last year. He'd better protect the ball better this year. He's got a defence that should give him a lot of short fields. I expect touchdowns this year.

thats why day 2-3 is so vital. We must address team speed at the skill positions starting today. Lets hope we can marry that with BPA. 0 reaching.

Exactly, NT was a massive need, and it's why it was a smart move. Now, we need some speed at WR and at RB, or an olineman and RB. I'd like Avila and Archane, or the back from Pitt mentioned earlier and either Luke Wypier (Guard from Ohio State) or Michael Wilson (WR Stanford). Those picks are important. Even then, I think Dak has what he needs.

There is always an excuse.

Starting te gone
starting lg gone
Zeke gone, pollard coming off injury
Steel injured
Tyron can't stay healthy
Mike's play calling sucks

And I'm sure there will be more.
You forgot one the qb sucks

I'd like to trade back in rd 3 and grab another rd 3 pick. That way we have 2 in rd 3. More darts if u will. Use 1 dart on a QB.

I'll also say this, I wonder how much Jerry was thinking about Will Levis (who, I'm wondering if he's going to be just another Paxton Lynch). I know he was fielding calls. However, they took a long time to decide, and it seemed like they were debating on the pick. I think they made the right choice, but I wonder if Jerry was thinking about Levis, considering he wasn't supposed to fall to our spot.

I'd love that. Or, at least get an extra 4, essentially a 3 and 2 4s considering the Stanford QB should be there in round 4.

Yah, thats ridiculous. This offense will need to score points like they did last year. And they cant fold against the Niners every year. We need to fix the offense as much as the defense. It’s the opposite to me.
Why this is wrong mentality, the fact is dak has had a loaded players around him and couldn’t get it done. No point in kicking the same can after nine years. We need a defense to save his butt bc last year was a good example of doing nothing with short fields given to him. He hangs the defense out to dry by going three and out and d can’t hold up when they give him the ball back and he does same thing again. We need to be two and three deep on defense bc your boy just isn’t that good

We either go with a 1st round talent at QB or nothing.

We've wasted almost 30 years hitching our franchise to QBs drafted outside the 1st round. We've not went with a 1st round QB since Aikman.

If we don't take the QB position seriously and draft an actual 1st round talent then I vote we just continue to load up on defense.
A first round QB doesn't mean that he will be any good. There are lots of QB failures who were drafted in round 1.

THIS.
It's all a matter of what coach, player, or unit the scapegoating shifts to.

And of course SleepNumber is exempt.
ALWAYS.

exactly. Jake Hainer is another QB.

Id be happy with that pick.

what if Levis is there still at 58 or Hendon?

I expect Levis is going to go to Atlanta. Hendon would be interesting. Sadly, he won't play this year, which ironically makes him the perfect Jerry 2nd round pick, especially since he'd have been a top 10 pick probably if not for the injury. However, I think if Saunders or Avila are there, then one of those two should be the pick. Or, if Michael Mayer falls to us there, then he'd have to be a serious consideration.

It means you're trying to hit on the most important position in all of sports.

The one player that can really take things to the next level.

There is no other position in football that can turn the franchise around from night to day.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... If the Chiefs had the attitude about it that you're showing they would have never traded up and drafted Mahomes because they would have been satisfied making the playoffs with Alex Smith.

Hendon, if all else fails, could be an intriguing option. If not for the injury, he'd be a top 10 pick. I actually wouldn't be upset if they took him at 58. I think he's the sort that, with a year to sit (as he'd have to do anyway), he could develop into a top QB. Then turn next year and take another top QB, and we could have quite the battle at QB.

I think he and Levis both are gone before 58 unforntunetley.

Yeah, no excuses. Only that they don’t have enough playmakers. Other than that, no excuses.
It would help to have a LG a RB and another WR. Hopefully we get a couple of those filled though the LG worries me because we need a starting LG. Even if we slide Tyler back inside it’s unlikely he stays inside 17 games

The defense isn't any better today than it was last year. The onus is on the offense, specifically the passing offense, but that is true for every team in the NFL.

Defense is a secondary priority to offense.
