Kellen will do that for Dak and so much more (sarcasm!) lolThen he better hire someone else lol.
The Yankees under Steinbrenner, maybe. The Cowboys head coach job is right there with the Yankees, Celtics, LA Dodgers. Everything else is 2nd class. Don’t buy the Fake News narrative! Ty…
There's 29 years and counting worth of stuff to complain about. That takes a lot of threads!Isn't there already a thread about this full of complaining about Jones? Seriously, can we just start a new forum threads where all the Jones complaints can go? I get it, I really do. But I'm tired of reading it, ad nauseum, in every single thread.
If you’re right the Cowboys should be able to attract the very best head coach candidate available. Names like Kellen Moore would not even be in the conversation. Considering adding high school coaches would not be part of the conversation. Unfortunately it’s not “Fake News”.The Cowboys head coach job is right there with the Yankees, Celtics, LA Dodgers. I could spam 50 threads complaining about Jerry and they would all get comments. It doesn't mean it is a worthwhile endeavor. That's why I suggested a separate forum. Then everyone could make their hate Jerry threads constantly and I could read things about the actual team. Because I'm a fan of the team. Not the FONo one is forcing you to read or comment. I appreciate your point of view but any thread lives or dies by the interest people have in commenting on it.

We can close this thread with this. In fact, we can fast forward to the end of EVERY season with this. Because until this changes...who we draft, who we sign in free agency, who we hire to coach.....DOES NOT MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!An established coach with any balls is going to demand the same power BP had.
Jethro said after he was gone that he would never give up that much power again.
I hope that his age and desperation force him into doing this; otherwise no matter who we get they will fail
Jones would be Dak Prescott's biggest advocate for retaining him. That stance would be magnified more IF Jones' next hire planned on getting the job first and pre-planned on steering Jones' commitment away from Prescott afterwards.
- The QB here is 31
I am only a long-time member who has spent some of my time here as a moderator. I do not speak for the staff. This is only my equally serious opinion based on experience as a CBZer:Isn't there already a thread about this full of complaining about Jones? I get your point but even Bill Parcells did not enjoy the same amount of power as Jimmy Johnson did. That is what any head coach needs working for this franchise. An established coach with any balls is going to demand the same power BP had.
a good enough coach with the same Power MIGHT be able to get it done. And that is really our best realistic hope.I get your point but even Bill Parcells did not enjoy the same amount of power as Jimmy Johnson did. That is what any head coach needs working for this franchise.
We can all keep our fingers crossed but I am a pessimist when it comes to Jerry Jones' self-willingness in becoming less involved.a good enough coach with the same Power MIGHT be able to get it done. And that is really our best realistic hope.
yeah, same here. my embers of hope are steadily fadingWe can all keep our fingers crossed but I am a pessimist when it comes to Jerry Jones' self-willingness in becoming less involved.
There are only three requirements to be a HC in Dallas. Before Monday night’s playoff game between the Rams and Vikings, Troy Aikman very clearly stated on ESPN why the head coaching position In Dallas has lost a ton of its luster - Hint: It starts with Jerry and ends with Jones. Not a surprise or breaking news there.
But I also believe there are some other big reasons this job is not as attractive as it might have been once:
I would love to believe being the HC of the Dallas Cowboys is a big attraction to coaching talent, but besides the Jerry Jones circus meddling, the reasons above are also big problems for any big time HC candidates who want to win a championship.
- The QB here is 31, has not been great in big playoff games, and has had 3 major injuries in the last 4 seasons. I’m not one who believes that Dak is the bottom of the barrel, but he’s certainly not at the top either. Without a really good running game, Dak is just above average at best. And he’s on the downside of his career. Very few QBs who have won SBs do it in their 30s. Sure there are some. But very few.
- The roster has holes all over it. There are major holes in the trenches on both sides of the ball. OL, DL, RB, WR, LB…and that’s just a start. When you take the fan glasses off, this roster is Swiss cheese.
- The front office uses an outdated vision of roster building. “Draft and develop” is only 50% of a championship building process. In today’s NFL, without some meaningful free agent signings (not dumpster dive FAs) along with good drafts, yiu can’t seriously compete.
- This FO does not appear to understand how to manage the salary cap. While Stephen Jones tells us every year that the cap prevents us from signing any FAs of note, great GMs who also have a big payroll like us - people like Brett Veach, Howie Roseman and Les Snead say, “Hold my beer” and then sign FAs or make big trades anyway. And win playoff games.
- Finally - it‘s obvious that whoever is HC in Dallas will be scapegoated for the sins of Jerry and Stephen Jones. Look at what happened to McCarthy. He was handed a bad roster from the FO and then held “accountable”. It’s inherently a scapegoat job.
I wish this weren’t true.
The final point is the only part of me that doesn’t want Sanders as HC. I generally can’t stand flamboyance but he is just a winner, and has the right aura about him. Before Monday night’s playoff game between the Rams and Vikings, Troy Aikman very clearly stated on ESPN why the head coaching position In Dallas has lost a ton of its luster - Hint: It starts with Jerry and ends with Jones. Not a surprise or breaking news there.

Steinbrenner was suspended (banned) and GM Gene Michael (The Stick) rebuilt the team. This would be a dream for us, except for a few people here who kiss the ring and bend the knee to jerry. The Yankees under Steinbrenner, maybe.
How many refused to have anything to do with him?
Anyone claiming that the Jones boys are not serious impediments to hiring to coaches is dreaming or on drugs
Tebow was fresh out of college and at least had potential at that point to develop. That is not the case coming in here. Dak is what he is and whether you think he's good or not, he is CLEARLY on the decline and that contract is going to get worse and worse over then next couple years.Never understimate the ego of these coaches though. There was a coach who said he can make Tim Tebow a QB in this league....and went down with the ship. These guys are arrogant and believe they are the best.
