As we head into another draft this week, it's time we check in on the older Cowboy players. Those players 30 and over who might need replaced soon. As usual the list gets smaller yet again this year. Here is the current list of players:

L.P. LaDouceur 36

J. Witten 34

S. Lee 30

O. Scandrick 30

N. Carroll 30

The Cowboys have done a great job at keeping the roster young recently. The top 2 names need replaced soon but other than that there isn't any need or concern about age at this time.

Bottom 2 are 2 draft picks away from getting replaced.
Doubt it. At least with Scandrick. Its hard to rely on a rookie CB. If we drafted a guy in the first round they are fighting Carroll for snaps in 2017. Adding a second CB, that player would likely be 5th on the depth chart. CB picks would be much more for the future then the present

Yeah, probably why we go CB in the first unless somehow a DE we really really like drops to us.

Yeah we are lucky its a deep DB class, cause its our biggest need long term. Short term, would be nice to get a pass rusher, but its kinda hard to get a rookie pass rusher who can contribute 10 sacks immediately at #28.

Football is a young man's sport, there are exceptions with truly great players of course.

I remember not liking TNew's age when we drafted him, who knew he was an exception. Draft is a crapshoot, you can combine numbers, but you can't combine a players heart or drive.

Lee probably has 2-3 years left in him and Scandrick has 1-2 IMO

Can't predict something like that man, never knew Aikman was going to be done that quick. Never knew TNew would last this long, or Brady for that matter.

Before Dak, expecting Romo for a few more years. How long did father time Darrell Green last.....every single person is different.

Seems like Frank Gore has been playing since the 60s. Steve Smith?? James Harrison?? Just saying.

Hard to fathom Witten is only 34. I would've guessed 50.

Yep plus Lee didn't play a lot for about 4 or 5 years because of injuries. If he can stay healthy maybe that actually extends his career ironically.

Nobody in 2001 really woulda thought Tom Brady will probably play into the 2020s.

How Bill Bates lasted 15 years in this league is beyond me.

He is never mentioned on this forum, but he should be, he is probably the best nonmentioned Cowboy that should be mentioned.

Bates didn't play a lot his last 8 years or so. Only had more than 20 tackles in 1993. Basically extended his career becoming a special teams guy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they create the special teams slot in the Pro Bowl because of Bill Bates? He was such a special teams demon, they decided to honor the position. Now a guy can make a career out of being good at special teams.
