Was watching the Draft Show earlier. They were saying he was 21 when we drafted him.
oh yes...i recall vividly...just incredible how many seasons and QBs he spanned...I recall when Tony played his first game in 2006 in relief of Bledsoe (against the Giants)...while watching Tony I noticed his immediate chemistry with Witten and I exclaimed "oh look, we can actually complete a pass to the TE!?!" Bledsoe seemed to avoid Witten like the plague and was always so focused on Keshawn and Glenn it seemed...little did I know then that history would be made from that point on.

Witten is a freak of nature in many respects. How a man with no apparent speed or quickness gets so open so often is no small feet! :)

Bryant, too me, is no longer a viable high end 1st receiver! He is an asset but not at 17 million bucks....

Yeah. I agree he is an asset. He just isn't worth his cap hit. He may not be worth half of his annual salary.

It's a shame you can't put Wittens brain in Dez' body.

Indeed...although I think Dez is poised for a breakout year in 2017...he is hearing the criticism and I think he comes in healthy and in great shape with a chip on his shoulder (not the Anthony Brown kind) looking for a little payback!

I would not be opposed to Dez playing like Julio Jones, A.J. Green or Antonio Brown. Hopefully he worked on honing his craft and getting separation. Otherwise it could be a long year for Dez except against bad teams.

Agreed. He has about half the value of his present outrageous contract. People call him dumb...tell you what...he truly out smarted the FO.

Nope my good friend. Bryant's best is behind him. Too late to learn route running and getting too old to compete for jump balls.

I think a FULLY HEALTHY Dez has zero problem gaining separation...it is clear to my eyes that his foot injury (and rushed return therefrom) had and has had lingering effects on his explosiveness...he will be right this year.

Yes...no doubt that is an unstated fear I also have...I am holding out hope that his foot is right again and that his explosiveness returns to mask some of his undeniable warts. But I could be painting to rosy a picture I will admit. I hope he proves my prediction right ;)

Tell you what... if Bryant is right, especially between the ears, where it really counts, he can still score points in any game he plays in. He still has great value...just over payed and over hyped by some.

I think your position isn't accurate. Dez has been failing to get separation for much longer than he has been hurt, so that's not the problem. It's that he has been a poor route runner. That has been a knock on him since he first teamed up with Romo. Do you remember Romo saying Dez didn't cut his routes off right resulting in an INT? That was his rookie year or soon thereafter.

Dez has as much heart as anyone, but he is either lazy minded (football stupid) or thinks he is so good he can get by running poor routes. It may be both.

Instead of forcing Dez to run good routes we have been telling QBs to force the ball to him. That is idiotic coaching.

It makes about as much sense as saying we don't need a good OL because Romo was so elusive. It's really stupidity at its finest.

Yeah...I am not at all defending Dez as a route runner...he is average at best in the dept. I did expand on this point as you read along in this thread...my main point throughout the discussion has been Dez's clear fall off in EXPLOSIVENESS due to the injury...everything he is as a receiver is based on that physicality and the ability to "go and get" the football. I wholeheartedly agree with the POV that without it his other warts as a player come to the forefront and allow him to be fairly easily shut down. That stated, I am hoping that his feet are 100% right this coming year and that we get his best version of himself...otherwise, he will continue to struggle with consistent performances and of course be harshly criticized for his $.
