The Pass Rush

Not usually in favor of these things but this might be an option. So might rushing Carter. In fact I'd put Carter in at DE some on passing downs.

With his lack of effort at LB, what makes you believe he would be better as a pass rusher? He is just collecting a check at this stage.

I would put Carter on the waiver wire.;) He's the only player that I've seen this season that appears to have quit on the team.

Agree with ^^^^^ this 100%. Carter seems like he is going thru motions with his half hearted play.

Our pass rush concepts are screwed up because of the personnel.

We cannot stunt both tackles because we play Hayden so much. Both ends are basically run down ends that would be fortunate to be depth on a real DL.

We made this bed, but all offseason it was always dismissed.

You're not kidding. Alex. It was dismissed.

No pass rush, no pass defense. It starts at the line, not the expensive, and useless corner back positions the GM tried to fill.

That's an accurate statement on the face of it but you have to be able to go get better players from somewhere and then pay them within the cap.

So where and how were we supposed to fulfill the above criteria?

I thought the team could do anything they wanted too in terms of the salary cap? :)

Maybe they will learn some lessons (finally) and not put them selves into a cap hole again.

Well best of luck to us all if that happens finally. But I think it has turned the corner and for that I have to credit Stephen and Jason.

I think one tackle in the likeness of Johnathan Hankins from NY would do wonders for this defense. He does not generate a great pass rush but he pusses the pocket enough to force the QB backwards allowing the DEs to get a good rush.

I also think Dallas needs a blue-chip DE, 1st-round DE this April.

I think we need blue chip DTs..but that is just me..but I like the post nonetheless.

I think you'd have to be there to know what the problem is. He can rush the passers though. Not sure if from DE but I know he can do it standing up. I'm not happy with his play either.

Introduce Carter to Curvin Richards.

No pass rush and a secondary that struggles to play effective zone coverage....the result is 3rd down conversions galore. I'm not sure what Marinelli cooked up early in the year to confuse opposing offenses just enough but the league has caught on and now drilling us.

He can play LBer too, when he wants to. You can just see his lack of effort from watching him play. He is slow off the ball, even slower to chase plays and does not seem like he cares.

It is too bad, because when he acts like he wants to make a play, he is fully capable. Probably drives the coaches insane.

Very very true. I don't see how he returns next year.

this defense just has not been the same after losing Durant.. who knew that one player, Justin Durant no less, effected a defense that much

Antwan Barnes is available 3rd down pass rusher, any help now would be good, if it don't work out cut him next day.

Beat me to it!! Lol

I was mostly joking but after seeing what the Dline + Miller were doign in Denver last night, and what the PHI Dline did to Dallas' Oline, I realize just how badly this team needs to improve on pass rush.

At this point, given the slim pickings out there with Shaun Phillips off the market, why not Michael Sam. At least he already knows the system a bit. Worst case he does not help and Dallas is in the same spot they're in now anyway
