The Passing Yards Leader has never won the Super Bowl

Witten a couple weeks ago, going into the Detroit game, was basically saying how this team was going pass dominant now a downfield offends. And all the commentaries were saying this is what they were being told. This team was recognized as a ‘big play’ offense, which is why they had the most ‘big plays’ in the league.

So this isn’t simply about passing when down in a whole.

The reality is, we suck in the red zone and we hardly run Zeke there, at least tracking the last three games.

I'm guessing a defense with the fewest interceptions in the entire league has never won a SB either.

Thanks, Jerry.

Why? Because balance and D wins.
K, you know very well we need this league's highest paid Oline to start doing their jobs well for our Offense to get more balanced. There is a reason why we're passing more.

Plus, our D continues to get run right up the gut while our LBs and DBs continue to struggle in pass coverage.

I just have to note that being the passing yards leader frequently means:
- You are playing from behind
- You are playing with a long field, frequently having to go 80 yards
- You are struggling to run the ball

Basically, things that are not conducive to winning. The fact that Dak is capable of racking up the yardage is a good thing. The fact that he has to is not.
One more:

- You prolly don't have a good D. (See Payton Manning!!!)

Yup.

I believe it's more about scheme/predictability problems than it is about OL problems. Our OL is solid, but we don't do them any favors.

Totally agree. Been saying the same thing, our Oline is not being helped with the blocking scheme.

Dan Marino had one (1) 1,000 yard rusher in his entire career.

Drew Brees' lone super bowl win was the year in which he had fewer passing yards and more rushing yards.

Jerry doesn't even understand what your DT's have to do w/ INT's. Can't expect him to actually build a D that gets INT's.

Meanwhile, players who play here continue to get more INT's for other teams.

the jersey sales was a sarcasm, but to make a decision like that was very premature, perhaps the tie breaker was the fans arses in the seats, the additional marketing revenue and jersey sales....Jerry always makes tie breaker decisions not on football related matters, but marketing and sales related matters...he is a master marketing man....he has been selling us average for 25 years and we are all buying....
I can only partially agree. Yes. Jones is a 'master marketing man' and 'has been selling us average for 25 years'. However, that conclusion is not the exclusive reason. Jones does believe he is a self-made professional football executive just as good as any of his peers. A significant number of people cannot wrap their minds around the concept because it is self-assuring thinking Jones is just another Joe who is greedy and has an inflated ego. 30 years of being in the public eye suggests otherwise.

Jones does not self-grade himself in the same fashion as his observers. He pins his franchise's football successes mainly upon himself. And despite his past public statements on his job performance, he shifts most of the blame for football shortcomings as coaching and player related deficits. It is how his narcissism justifies keeping himself entrenched as general manager for life.

For too many, Jones is just some guy with too much money and too much control. In reality, Jones has always thought of himself as a master of football matters, with multiple Lombardi trophies and a gold Hall of Fame jacket as proof. He is the same guy who really thought that one of 500 coaches could take the talent he helps assembles and win championships. He thinks Dave Campo was a good head coaching hire. He thinks Jason Garrett could be his Tom Landry.

He has been observed and heard stating whatever amounts as rabid bats fly around inside his skull since before Johnson left. Even so, too many people think he always seeks out microphones like a fetish simply to run a game on them--never taking a second to think and consider Jones actually believes a good bit of his own <expletive>.

Que sera sera. I guess.

For all the people obsessed with Dak, they really don't recognize how much better this defense is than the defenses Romo had most years. That isn't to say that this defense is perfect, but a good QB should be winning with this cast and crew.

Dak defenses ranked by points
2019 - 9th
2018 - 7th
2017- 13th
2016 - 5th

Romo defenses ranked by points
2014 - 15th
2013 - 26th
2012 - 24th
2011 - 16th
2010 - 31st
2009 - 2nd
2008 - 20th
2007 - 13th
2006 - 20th

If you look at 2007, 2009, 2014, they were all Romo's best years. One year with a top 10 defense. Prescott has had a top 10 defense 3 of 4 years. And the worst year he has had was 13th. Romo had a defense like that 2 of 9 years. Let's face reality. If they had allowed Romo to continue playing and used Prescott as a backup, this team may have seen more success. The rush to push out Romo because Prescott was beating bad teams in 2016 was misguided.

Romo with an offensive line, a running game, and defense... He never had that compliment. In 2009 he had no offensive line. In 2007 the defense was okay, not great. Also didn't have the best pass blocking line.

Romo should have been allowed to return and compete for his job in 2016 and had he, he would have won his job back. It definitely could have been our year.

The Cowboys offense has the worst starting field position in the NFL - their own 25 yard line. That's created by defense that can't get turnovers and poor special teams. Want to guess who has the best starting field position? If you said New England give yourself a hand.

Meanwhile the offense is 2nd in the NFL in yards per drive (Baltimore is first) and 4th in the NFL in points per drive (behind Baltimore, KC, and Minnesota), despite having to drive further than any of them to score.

Defense has been the problem, and continues to be the problem.

I agree that jones thinks/wants to be known as a great GM and fancies himself as one. thus his role as owner vs. GM are always in conflict...sometimes good football decisions are not necessarily good business decisions on the short term.

Putting the cart before the egg.

New England invests far less in offense than the Cowboys do. That allows their defense to drive the team. The resources involved in the Cowboys offense dictate that it set the pace, yet it doesn't. Cowboys are 17th in redzone touchdowns. That has nothing to do with the defense. Even worse against the teams they've played in the last 3 games.
