To clarify- I’m not pinned down to a single point of view about who starts for us at QB. The MOST important thing to me is winning. That’s where my loyalty lies. Not any single player or coach.
I’m neither pro-this guy or anti-that guy. I just want to win, which is why I hate getting into arguments about Dak vs Cooper Rush. The “either/or” arguments to me are too partisan and too simplistic. Football is a team game that obviously requires excellent play at QB to win a championship. But that’s not all it requires.
As a fan of the Cowboys for 58 years of my life, one thing that I’ve observed that never seems to change. Whoever the starting QB is receives either way too much credit and/or way too much blame. When Dak signed his big payday, IMO he was doomed to be the primary target of frustration by the fan base. That’s the way it’s been forever regardless of the QB.
Last point on this- I think most fan bases give a QB about 5 years to show some playoff accomplishment. Dak is in his 7th season and he has one playoff win as a QB. Is that all his fault? Certainly not. But his paycheck makes him an all or nothing target- fair or not. I think Dak is good enough to lead a team to a SB. But he is NOT capable of being a Mahomes or Brady to do it mostly himself. He needs a defense and a decent OL. He may have that this year.
It’s time for this team to win something besides the NFC east. Maybe Dak isn’t “the guy”. But the last 27 years of frustration is not all on Dak Prescott. We all know where that responsibility lies.
