I got down to 225 which for me is skinny because im 6'4 and big boned.

Anyways I recently got back up to about 260 so im trying to get back on that journey again.

It just sucks for the 1st couple weeks of dieting and I can't get into the groove on the weekends.

Monday - Thursday I do great.

If I can just make it 2 weeks though then i'll be set until I reach my goal weight.

Those first few days suck so much. By the 3rd or 4th day, all you want is exactly what you can't have. Once you clear about the 10th day or so, it's actually not so bad. And past that? It's clear sailing.

I started my old routine again this week. I really lost my normal routine this last year with my family obligations and ramped up from 10% body fat to what I would estimate to be around 15%. I hit the weights a couple of times per week, so I have maintained my muscle mass, but very little cardio. It caused me to go from a comfortable size 32 to slightly loose size 34.

I tried the P90X earlier this year and it worked well, but the time commitment cut into my time with my kids and that is just a big no-no for me. My current routine cuts the time commitment down considerably and has provided me with the results I like in the past. My goal is to drop about ten pounds and get my cardio back up to where it should be.

Just don't slack off for a week, then it's almost like starting over! :laugh2:

I went on vacation and our days were so full (sun up to sun down) there was no time to hit the gym. Of course I was thinking it didn't really matter since we were swiming, snorkeling, scuba diving, walking, etc. I was wrong. After lifting the first day when I got back, I was sore again for a few days and the first cardio day was tough too.

Yeah I imagine a lot more people would have success trying to lose weight if they just knew that they aren't going to feel like they do on days 3 through 10 forever.

Once you make it through those days your body stops craving all of those bad foods.

It just sucks for about 2 weeks though and im struggling myself with trying to break through that little wall.

Pure cardio is the only way to remove it. Not only that, you can't lose it with only 20-40 minutes of cardio. You've got to put in 750-1,000 calorie cardio sessions a couple of times a week while keeping tight track of your caloric intake.

I have that last 10lbs issue too and I haven't brought myself to do more than 500 calorie cardio burn sessions.

Lifting weights won't do it... well unless you do lighter weight /w lots of reps and workout for hours, but you start to burn muscle doing that also.

I think I am going to try to switch from jogging/swimming to high intensity like Insanity or P90X

Just do burpees. One minute on and one minute off trying to get at least one burpee every two seconds. (30 per minute) Do five sets, thats a 10 minute workout that will kick your ***! You will think P90X is a walk in the park! :laugh2:

Increase this to 15 sets if you're man enough :)

It will help some, but you will still need to be disciplined. The health benefits are great, though.

Yeah. Don't take it on an empy stomach.

I had a battle last night. I had a good day eating, exercised, and all that good stuff. 8:30 last night hunger set in and the battle to not eat started.

Anyways I had a couple pieces of lunchmeat ham and 5 chips lol.

Im off to a terrible start today though. I've drank 2 cokes and I hardly ever drink cokes. I also had a Sonic Breakfast burrito.

So the goal today is no late evening snack and water with the rest of my meals.

Im probably around 750 calories already today and haven't had lunch :(.

Dinner will be protein powder mixed with water.

I did one hour on the Elliptical machine. It said I did just over five miles and 640 calories in that time. (the calories it list are just the machines guesstimation of course) I was watching ESPN special with John Gruden talking to Brees and Sean Payton about the Superbowl. It makes it as if I don't even notice I'm doing it although towards the end I started feeling stress in the ball of my big toe. Probably because that was where most of the downward pressure was landing. This morning I feel sore on the outside of my knees but that is just a sore knee stabilizer muscle from being worked for so long. Neither is bad and is probably just because I haven't used the Elliptical machines very much. Switching up your routine is a good thing as it shocks the different muscles.

I can't stress enough how watching a good TV show while doing your workout makes it so much easiler. Especially when starting out doing cardio. Just don't overly press yourself. Start slow and build up your cardio over time.

When I first started doing cardio, I just walked with a steep incline (7-9%) for 30-40 minutes. I didn't start jogging till my third of forth cardio day and then I lowered the incline to 2% and jogged at 4.5mph for two miles. Then I just slowly worked up from there. Now on I do about 5.5 to 6mph at a 4-5% incline for three miles.

I notice a lot of the women at my gym who are in really good shape actually switch machines a few times during their workout. Stair stepper, to running, to ellipticals. (or others machines) I think I will try that next time. Vary your cardio workout just as you very your lifting workout.

Good stuff.

Wow. Some serious weight loss in here. I was about 320 a little over a year ago and now I'm at 220. I'm 6'4", so I'm thinking I need to lose another 20-30 pounds to get rid of my lovehandles and midsection.

Once I drop these last few pounds that keep hanging on, I'm going to try and build some muscle. At this point though, I'd rather cut instead of build I'm thinking. I'd like to be able to actually see the definition once I start getting some. :D

Interesting, you must have a very different build than myself. I'm 6'4 270, and while I certainly have weight to lose, I'd be sickly if I ever weighed as low as 220. That's way tiny for me. 240 would probably be ideal for my build.

I'm not scrawny, but I'm not built either. I definitely could stand to use a few more pounds. The only time in my life I've ever actually gotten rid of my lovehandles was sub 200 pounds. I doubt I'm going to get that low, but still.

Troy Aikman was 6'4 220lbs during his playing days. He hardly had any fat on his body and he was very broad and muscular. Sickly would not have been a word to describe him. :laugh2:

Though frame means a lot. Some guys have naturally smaller frames (I don't mean height) and others have larger frames.

:laugh2: They would probably stay at the same machine if you would stop following them around! Seriously, I noticed that last night myself. I plan on doing that this evening to see if it works for me.

Actually if I do start switching machines, it will be harder to switch machines if they don't! :lmao2:

I'm a type 2 diabetic. Balloned out of high school to over 215 ( I'm only 5 ft 6)

This year my wife tells me to get it in gear.

So 5 to 5.5km walk every day.

Oatmeal for breakfast, cereal for lunch, Spinach salad with either 4 oz of meat or salmon, or kidney beans.

Dropped from 189 on April 4th to about 164...

Still going coz according to BMI I'm over weight...

Its a fight, the biggest thing is to measure your portions.

And stick with it.
