There really shouldn't be any need to trade Romo unless the compensation fits our taste.

We are already strapped by the vast majority of his cap hit, whether we trade him or not.

Romo doesn't want to be a back up? So what. I love him, as do the Jones', but no player should have the power to manipulate an entire organization.

If someone doesn't offer a 1st or 2nd, especially if Romo restructures his contract to help them out financially, then I hope we keep him as a valuable clip-board holder.

If Dallas trades Romo somewhere he doesn't want to go, he'll just retire and go to the booth.

I think Jerry will just do Romo the favor of releasing him so he can make his own decisions. That is, if Jerry can't talk him into staying.

Romo is not retiring unless if we trade him to the Browns
He desperately wants to show everyone that the Cowboys made a mistake not playing him last year when he was healthy
He will do anything to play for a contender next year

I'll say it again: Don't be surprised if Dallas releases Romo outright. Takes the 5 mil cap savings and moves on.

No one will be surprised if jerry makes this stupid and idiotic move

Unfortunately CZ homers will applaud jerry for it too

Jerry loves him. He feels bad that he let him down for so long. He's likely to just release him in the next two weeks.

We're getting a banquet of draft picks.

If, by Banquet, you mean......

Then yes. I think that's a very accurate and astute assessment Risen.

I really don't know if we an get anything for Romo. I brought up Bradford because I never thought he was worth a #1 pick and somehow it worked out for Philly. We all laughed when Chip said he had offers of a #1 for Bradford.

So you're saying he would blackmail the Cowboys? I doubt it. He won't be happy but he has been paid millions upon millions by the Cowboys and is under contract. He would not have started on any other team in the NFL. We don't 'owe' him anything. This is a business transaction.

However, my point is that if we stand our ground we will be able to trade him so this will be a non issue

You obviously did not listen to Stephen yesterday at the combine. The FO thinks that Tony has done as much for the Cowboys as most any QB they've had. They are not going to make Tony hold a clipboard for another year. Jerry wants a relationship with Tony after he retires which could happen this year if he is told he is being traded to a losing team for picks. Just not going to happen....This is Jerry's Cowboys and he never treats his stars that way.

Define high end.

I fully expect 2nd round or higher when all bidding is said and done.

I think you figured out what a high end pick is all by yourself....and what bidding, that's your first mistake....Denver and probably one other team is probably high on Romo's list and since Denver knows Dallas has to get rid of him and his contract, why would they offer anything when they can pick him up as a free agent after Dallas cuts him..

You don't have to convince me that Jerry is going to make a stupid football move. I already know that the next smart football move Jerry makes will be his first.

I'm saying "this is what should happen from a team standpoint" and "this is what will happen because Jerry is an idiot"

I don't think some are taking into account the full picture here.
They are telling a pro bowl level QB that he is not going to get to compete for the job he lost by injury fair and square.
I won't argue the pros or cons of that..and I am a Dak fan too.
But it unusual.
Romo 100% took the high road last year as he always does.

In return for not getting to compete, and to go with all the other massive good-will he has built up here his entire career with the front office, that ups the odds of a release.

The rest of league is paying attention as well...especially other players.

There will be no bidding...Romo will set the parameters for his exit from Dallas and Jerry will issue his ticket to the team of his
choice.
If I understand your post, the demand will be high enough that Romo will have a chose of teams but I'am vague on your meaning "issue his ticket".
I think you mean Dallas will let Romo leave as to Romo's choice regardless of trade.
If thats the case I agree.

You read me right. Jerry will help and facilitate Tony moving to his best situation for the upcoming year.
Jerry loves him some Tony Romo and he's going to do right by him.

I don't really care about reading you right. Jerry's the GM of the Dallas Cowboys. He needs to do right by the team not any player.

If he is still a Probowl level QB (and I think he is) then we should be able to trade him since there are many QB needy teams who are close to contending

Can't have it both ways

The ONLY reason to cut/release him would be to make him happy at the expense of the team and a well run football would not make that decision

No one is "paying attention", that is rubbish
Players go where the money is, period

Jerry will do right which will in turn endear him to the current and future players on the Cowboys. You don't hurt players on
the team who was a teammate all the way this past year. Players are looking. No one really cares what you think anyway.
If you followed the Cowboy way close enough, you would already know how Jerry will handle this situation.

Jerry might do that but the thought behind it is complete liberal gender fluid nonsense. He's the GM. You do right by the team not the player.

So you let the player hurt the team?
Yeah, that makes total sense
