I think Jerry comes out every other year with this tag line 'more romo friendly'. I mean how many more times is he going to come out and say they will do things to take more advantage of his talents. At some point Romo just has to do it or move on.

This.

Last year we were in the bottom 5 in defensive passer rating, and went 8-8. The other 4 teams went a combined 17-47.

Last year we were in the bottom 5 in rushing ypa, and went 8-8. The other 4 teams went a combined 24-40.

It's safe to say Romo has more than carried his weight with a poor supporting cast, and really any argument contradictory to that is the adult equivalent to plugging your ears and yelling La-La-La-La-La.

OR...having watched the Commanders game, or several other meltdowns over the last years.

Lets see, the first half of the season Romo stunk, then as we LOST players he began to play better, so exactly what does it have to do with the team and not Romo? Romo has 2 problems (1) his mechanics go off from time to time without notice. (2) Once bad things start to happen, his confidence goes out the window and he's horrible until he gets it back.

At some point your Ginger Genius has to start playing to his players strengths and not calling his fantasy 90's Cowboys offense.

Quarterbacks are allowed to have 1-2 games a year where they throw 3 or more interceptions. For the most part they all do it, and that doesn't cripple a season. But lets look at 2011, when Romo surely didn't stink when you look at a 31-10-4184 line.

Cowboys again ranked in the bottom 8 in defensive passer rating, going 8-8 in the process. The other 7 teams go a combined 37-75. Cowboys rank in the bottom 8 in rushing touchdowns, going 8-8 in the process. The other 7 teams go a combined 33-79.

Romo has 4 of the 110 seasons where a quarterback has thrown for 4,000 or more yards. He has 2 of the 17 seasons where a quarterback has thrown for 4,000 or more yards with 10 or fewer INTs. The only other QBs to do so multiple times are Brady, Rodgers, and Peyton.

can't play to any strenght until you get the 5 up front doing their job. Dallas has the skill players to make the plays we need the guys up front to allow the plays to be executed. If Romo is ducking and dodging at the snap there is not a lot of plays that will work. However because Romo has very good ability to escape we will hit big plays here and there but you can't run a consistent offense without the guys up front and all the talk of play calling does not matter if they don't get the job done at the line

If they select a QB in the 2nd round, everyone involved ( including the owner ) should be FIRED on the spot.

Yawn.

So thats why Jason Garretts offenses get owned by the same smoke blitzes over and over and over again.

Keep passing the buck.

Not passing anything but any offense starts up front that is pure and basic football. Plays do not work when a OL struggles, yes you will hit some plays but you will not run a consistent offense if your beat up front. There are no secret plays in football to cover up poor blocking. Not my fault you don't understand the fricken game. I'm not into passing blame or cutting slack just dealing with the reality of it. You think throwing quick passes hides your OL? It doesn't not consistently, defense are not stupid

This. So simple yet so difficult to comprehend.

At some point the finger has to be pointed at the personnel and personnel management. Jerry sez coaching (with Romo) will need to step up but nothing was mentioned about the improvement necessary from personnel.

Jerry keeps trotting out the same garbage on the o-line and Garrett is sure to be fired since it is his offense that apparently can't get it done.

Apparently Jerry Jones wants to build this offense around Romo and his strengths (Mobility, Arm Strength, Quick Release?). How do you think this offense can change to use Romo to the best of his abilities.

A new oc with his own playbook not jg. New hc would be nice too but ill take a new oc for now

I think it is shared. I do think Garrett as HC is responsible to go out and win games people want to claim it is play calling in my view it is lack of execution and yes a big part because of the play of the OL. Bottom line Garrett gets this team winning or else he will be fired that is not cutting slack to Jason that is the simple truth of a HC life you win you hang around you lose and your days are numbered.

As far as Jerry yes he too has responsibility, they knew last year that with the loss of Newman and some other changes in the secondary the uncertainty of Jenkins that they had to address the secondary and they went out got Carr and Claiborne. If I had to take a guess today I think Dallas will look to add to the OL in this draft within the 1st 3 picks and would not be shocked to see a mid level FA added to the OL.

I think anyone who feels Dallas should use every pick on OL this year is not being realistic. I expect DT will be added as well as a safety added to the mix. Mostly through the draft

I think d-line will be the best value at 18 but who knows, Jerry may be enamored with the 6-million $$$ man, Tavon "Steve" Austin and go WR.

It could be a DL player I don't know, I know the draft is more than 1st rd and hitting the 1st 3 picks I think will be important. OL, DL or Safety in rd 1 I have no issue with. I highly doubt it will be a WR but the main things is getting the talent who can come in and contribute.

Great job! There are so many stats that back up Romo's outstanding abilities as a QB. Unfortunately, the team's performance in critical areas (creating turnovers on D, protecting the QB, a consistent running game, coming up with critical stops on D) frequently prevent him from taking this team as far as he could. Anyone I know who watches all the Cowboys games and actually understands the game of football knows that Romo is an excellent QB.

Until the Cowboys stop playing undisclipined stupid football we're going nowhere.

How many times are opposing teams drives extended by our sloppy play?

I watched the NFL special on Coach Landry & Drew Pearson said they would win & still felt like they lost because Coach Landry would rip into them.

Different time I know but how refreshing. Play smart disciplined football. Don't beat yourself.

They can fill any number of holes on this team in the draft but the biggest hole to fill seems to be the hole between some of these guys ears.

I agree. All that adds up. Cowboys have areas that they need to improve you can say that about most teams even the Ravens. I think teams who show discipline within their play and knowing the situation at all times can go a long way in overcoming some weakness. Most games are determined by a small handful of plays or opportunity you let slip away because of undisciplined play. It falls to the coaches to correct it

Step 1: A pass defense that does not rank in the bottom 8 for three years running. Last year we had a 94.7 passer rating against. For his career Drew Brees has a passer rating of 94.3. This feels like a DirecTV commercial, but the advice there is "don't make every quarterback like Drew Brees"

Step 2: Don't have an offensive line that results in a bottom-of-the-league rushing game and your quarterback breaking his bones every year.

This was simple to write and painful to think about.
It really doesn't matter what they do, he'll never be a championship-caliber QB. He just doesn't have the "it" factor that you need to be a champion.

That's not a thing, unless by "It" factor you mean a defense that can win a low scoring game against a playoff offense.
