^^^^ Blame Dak all you want but this is the problem. I will add to look closely at that list. Did any of those guys go on to greener pastures. Zimmer maybe. That’s it. Moore TBD. They either retired or got run out of the league. That is the most telling piece of information.
We kept hearing how great and innovated JG was for a decade. Well no other team wants him. Instead he claps on the Football Night in America show on Sunday nights.

You are a gold star poster but really this is a tired old trope. Our we hoping for Jones to step back and hire a g.m.? Has there ever been a hint that could happen? Would he hire someone or just appoint his son? Are we rooting for him to pass away? I'snt that what it boils down to? Rooting for an 80 year old to get feeble enough to finally move on or for him to die?
It doesn't matter because we got his idiot son waiting in the wings.

The root problem with this team? Sure we don’t have an “elite” QB. We don’t have the most innovative head coach, yada yada.
But my fellow fans

Since our last divisional playoff win, these are the coaches Jerry has anointed to lead us back to the promised land:
HEAD COACHES (6)
  • Chan Gailey
  • Dave Campo
  • Bill Parcells
  • Wade Phillips
  • Jason Garrett
  • Mike McCarthy
DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS (8)
  • Dave Campo
  • Mike Zimmer
  • Brian Stewart
  • Rob Ryan
  • Monte Kiffin
  • Rod Marinelli
  • Mike Nolan
  • Dan Quinn
OFFENSIVE COORDINATORS (8)
  • Jack Reilly
  • Bruce Coslet
  • Maurice Carthon
  • Jason Garrett
  • Bill Callahan
  • Scott Linehan
  • Kellen Moore
  • Brian Scottenheimer
GENERAL MANAGER (1)
  • Jerral Wayne Jones
Folks, without changes at the top of this organization and how it functions, hiring an innovative new head coach, acquiring a new “star” QB (which is extremely difficult for ANY organization) or hiring some hot shot coordinators are nothing more than a new coat of paint on the Titanic.

Without changes at the top, all we have is a desperate hope that a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut. Or Lady Luck feels sorry for us and we get lucky.
Bob, I have been banging this drum for years.
Until we get a competent GM, we are never winning big.
The NFL is just too competitive to have an amatuer GM running your team.
We are at year 28 Cowboys Fans held hostage.

To me nothing has changed . We are what I thought we were. Prob 3rd or 4th best team in NFC. Lions look like prob 3rd best.

But even if we have taken a step back from last year maybe we have fallen to 4th or 5th. Which is pretty much where we have been the last two seasons .

Some of us warned that we should take more notice on how other teams had improved more than we have but never had much chatter on how they had improved , only focused on us.
I will say Detroit is ahead of us at this point. They very well could be 5-0 right now. And play hard, where we play soft against better teams.

SF, Philly, Detroit, Dallas, TB (only because they are 3-1)
I was thinking of putting Detroit ahead of Philly though. From what I seen of both teams so far, Philly had more struggles with their wins through most of the games.

Jerry is such an embarrassment to this franchise, city, and state. Makes it tough to root for the team sometimes.

He's everything I don't respect in a person.
Rangers swept Tampa and Baltimore so the buzz and talk will take away from the Cowboys woes. Since they will play in the ALCS ... a team playing for going to the World Series .... If you get what I mean.

I don't think people truly grasp how ineffective the Jones boys have been since Jimmy Johnson influence left the building.

I don't think Jerry Jones truly appreciates how instrumental Jimmy Johnson has been to the billions he has made.

Without Jimmy....Jerry has what....4 playoff wins in almost 30 years? If you take away Jimmy Johnsons influence on this organization, do you really think 4 playoff wins would have made this franchise as profitable/popular as it has been?

It is incomprehensible that this has been allowed to continue. It is laughable that he is in the HOF. It is despicable that he does not even have the decency to pay his proper respect to Jimmy by putting him in the Ring of Honor

The fans....the REAL fans....of this organization....have been caught up in the maniacal web of this out of control, out of touch, out of his mind narcissist. Many of us became fans long BEFORE Jerry was someone we had ever even heard of.

I litteraly sit back and LAUGH at the moves he makes and the stuff he says

The Cowboys (mainly the front office and fans who listen to them) were SHOCKED, when the 49ers beat us in the playoffs 2 years ago. They were so out of touch and arrogant that they reduced the talent level of the team and thought they still had enough coaching and talent to beat the 49ers the following year. The 49ers just snickered and said you are so overrated that we will beat you with a last pick in the NFL draft rookie. And so the Cowboys come back the following year and install an offense that requires physicality, yet they deploy weapons who are not physical. And then put players on the field on defense that are not physical. And once again expected to beat a team that is physical, but instead got beat WORSE than they did the first 2 times.

And the owner comes out the next day and says we have the guy that is going to lead us to the Super Bowl.

Jerry somehow has convinced himself that he is a Super Bowl winner. But as the primary architect of this franchise (meaning since Jimmy Johnsons influence has the left the building)...he has won 4 playoff games in almost 30 years. Heck Nick Foles won that many a few years ago in ONE SINGLE PLAYOFF run!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do the words "Super Bowl" ever come out of the mouth of somebody that has NEVER led anything or anybody to the Super Bowl in his almost 30 years of being the chief architect?

Yep.. agreed.

We will need to win Mon Night in order to maintain 4-5th best currently in NFC.

I agree. the GM is solely responsible for the success of the team. the GM has failed.

You’re right, Bob! The stench of mediocrity originates with Jerry. It’s depressing because there’s no relief in sight.
its lack of focus. it permeates throughout the organization. a lot of the pre-snap penalties are due to lack of focus. like Kearse lining up 1 yard over the LOS. really!!! and then other pre-snap penalties. the lack of preparation. talk talk talk. just like the owner.

Too bad Dan Snyder didnt spill the dirt he had on Jerry on his way out the door. Might have been enough to end his ownership. My guess is all the owners decided to let Snyder keep the money he stole from them if he kept his mouth shut.
Snyder and Jones were allies and had each other's backs when all was said and done.

no matter what you do jerry isn't gonna go and even if he did jerry junior is gonna be a lot worse because he like party time not football anyway. So get ready for a long long long long time before this team is in the super bowl or even a meaningful playoff game. my famous saying is see you next draft and the 100 ones after that

That might be true OR Might not be , prove it!

that's all you talk about here is the ownership and it gets old after a while... You feel that it's 100% accurate if we hire a real GM that is allowed to hire a coach and they get a real quarterback in here we just fix this right away?? Or do we go through what Arizona is going through what they're going up maybe I'm gonna be their third GM third head coach and 3rd top quarterback?? We've seen The Jets in the Browns and probably 16 or 17 teams trying to do the very thing you think it's some kind of blueprint to start reading right away and they're not...

And by the way so many people in here were on board to bring in Sean Payton because they said he would be the answer the almighty Jesus give anything for him trade away everyone for him

kinda funny how that works huh he's over there blaming the old head coach in the social media and he goes to the team and absolutely lays an egg and loses to that very guy... Nobody sees many positive changes from Sean Payton as a savior maybe it'll take a few years but does he have a few years not the way people talk around here it's supposed to be instant just jumping in mix it up and boom you're back in the Super bowl..

Actually there's no data to support that at all there might be some outliers there might be a few people who did do and use that formula and turn their team around pretty quick but most of them don't...

Some point sometimes you have to blame the execution on the players or some of the coaches just a few of the pieces out of a ton of moving pieces on a true pure team game it only takes a few to mess it up.... We've seen all those games in the playoffs it wasn't any one guy but there were a few plays in each one of those games that I don't think had anything to do with ownership that messed those games up or we would already be in a championship game that's my opinion sometimes it's about the players or the coaches in the game plan but they've been changing those you think that there's some hotshot out there that can change it around hey why don't we just go get Chip Kelly or all the other failed guys we took from college that were supposed to be better and they have failed or what I mean what is the blueprint what are these names show me all the names that are available that you believe have 100% shot to come in here and do better than what's been going on here the last five or six years??

Let's stay in the last five or six years and not go all the way back to all these coaches you keep listening on all these threads this is a different era different games different players different coaches you keep saying same thing it's not the same thing...
First off, I admittedly didn't even attempt to read all this.

So, you're not interested in a topic, but click on it anyway to post some snarky trash? How does that even make sense?

Again, I want us to win. This year. Hopefully we get lucky. I just wanted to make the point that we’ve already tried multiple HCs, coordinators, QBs, etc. There’s no magic bullet.
All the HC you named except BP have one thing in common, they are willing to say yes to everything Jerry wants or says it a prerequisite for a job in Dallas. Jerry is the face the spokesman the all mighty decision maker and coaches know this and take the $$$ and put up with it. BP was needed to push the stadium deal and so Jerry used him but TO was the last straw. Luck into it is a sad reality unfortunately Jerry truly believes he has built a championship team just about every year and to him the only luck has been bad luck because he’s used that 40 year old brain to field a winner.

Same results, you do know the definition of insanity right. Glad you’re happy with the last 5 years and the 22 before that and I guess you missed who picks the players the coaches and signs the contracts. Bob is right there’s one common denominator it’s Jerry at least other teams jettison the dead weight and keep trying. The only way Dallas changes is when the dead weight is lowered in the hole
