AdamJT13, I really respect your statistical prowess, but the defensive torch you are carrying for Roy may be just as disproportionate as the critics blanket stating that Roy Williams "sucks" in all phases of his play.

I can understand your supportive efforts of Roy Williams if only the fans were consistently squawking, but the analysts, opposing players, even our own coaches have increasingly criticized the efforts and effectiveness of Roy Williams.

Wade took Roy out of defensive plays last year and Campo in part was hired to return Roy to earlier productive form. It is evident that Roy who still is in his prime is not performing to the level he is capable and or to the degree befitting a so-called experienced veteran but still young superstar safety. Aren't you supposed to get better at the position in ensuing years rather than get worse?

A player can perform consistently in some phases of the position even to the point it is statistically impressive but that doesn't mean that in critical playing instances that a player can't horrifically give up big plays or needlessly extend drives of the opponent.

Even Roy vis a vis Ellis has acknowledged his ineffectiveness by blaming Wade's scheme as being incompatible, thereby hampering his ability to perform.

I don't see anyone claiming that Roy is playing great. That is not what should be gathered from the list.

Looks to me like Adam is simply pointing out that there are quite a number of things that people say about Roy that may not be the truth.

A list of myths without a list of fact based rebuttals is useless.

1. Roy used to hit real hard.
2. Now Roy hardly hits at all.
3. Roy horsecollared TO and broke his ankle.
4. Roy blames others when he gives up big play. (yes some werent his fault.. but EVERY big play? isnt his fault?)

To me 15 (no heart) is dead on what has been wrong with Roy since about the 3/4 mark of the 2006 season. Something has just been different since then - he is not playing with the same spunk. I don't know if it is injury or personal life issues but he is not playing with the same intensity anymore.

Overall I agree that his 2006 season was pretty good outside of some issues with deep coverage on WRs which he was required to do in the old offense.

I also agree that he is not bad in coverage compared to most SS in the league - he is just average.

The heart just doesn't seem to be there anymore. I worry about it because I believe it can be "contagious".

I'm not sure that I understand, Adam, why are these myths?

Roy Williams has been one of my favorite players. I have a big Roy Williams fathead on the wall in my sports room, and I was at the Linc a few years ago when he intercepted that pass from McNabb and took it to the house for the 21-20 win.

But you need to look at reality. He has absolutely not been the same player since his second year. He has been out of position far too many times, and he doesn't wrap up well when he tackles.

The fact is he's overrated, especially by fans here (yes - it's true, the number of fans who support him blindly stuns me).

Actually I am glad Adam has shown a flaw. The guy scared me with him not having one for so long.

Are you kidding? Carrying water for Roy is his raison d'etre. He's a one-man booster club. Like I've said a thousand times, Roy wouldn't have to be torn down if others didn't shamelessly build him up.
