Even Roy vis a vis Ellis has acknowledged his ineffectiveness by blaming Wade's scheme as being incompatible, thereby hampering his ability to perform.

This line could be added to Adams list since it is utterly false.

How exactly did Roy blame Wades scheme for hampering his ability to perform, when he said he wasnt sure he fit the scheme BEFORE he played in it last season

Roy is playing Average and has been disapearing in games.

We haven't made 1 average investment in the guy. Not 1.

The player that he can be is not what he is right now.

All you have to do is watch the games.

I hope he gets back to being that special player we once had because if he does our defense will be absolute killer.

The fact is he's overrated, especially by fans here (yes - it's true, the number of fans who support him blindly stuns me).
The numbers of Cowboy fans who criticize him every day on this forum blinds me.

Cause Roy is like Dating Jessica Simpson and then waking up one day and she looks like Roseanne Arnold.

A list of myths without a list of fact based rebuttals is useless.

Adam and others (including myself) have individually debunked many of these myths over the last couple of years. But it always seems to fall on deaf ears.

Roy certainly isn't perfect, and I would love to see his level of play increase, but he's nowhere near as bad as he's made out to be by many of the posters here.

I really respect Adam -- think he's one of the best posters on this board.

But what I see here is someone who just won't acknowledge that Roy hasn't been very good - yes, he's been better than many SS in this league. But he's paid as an elite SS not as an above average one.

He hasn't played up to his contract. Add in his failure to show an ounce of leadership and his thin skin and you've got someone who deserves every slam he gets

This may or may not be true. We may have a "gut feeling" for whether or not he's paid that highly or not, but I'd be careful as to actually making such statements. I'd be curious to see the real numbers. I just checked a few of the "name" safeties in the league and Roy's contract numbers are right in line with them.

And unless we can show that he's worse than some of those "name" safeties with identical or greater contracts, there's no sense saying he's overpaid.

39. Is one of the greatest safeties to have ever played the game; anyone who says different knows nothing.

Perhaps you missed the part about all of those things actually being said.

Which ones do you doubt?

Anyone who has been paying attention knows that every single one of those statements is false.

Roy frustrates me at time, but I was also frustrated when Henry fell down and let Amani Toomer score on a long TD run; I get frustrated when I see Ware do nothing but try to run around the OT and not get the type of consistent pressure I think he can get if he broadens his repertoire; I get frustrated when T.O. drops a pass or when Romo makes a pathetic throw.

Roy has become the whipping boy...he has flaws and coordinators have started to try and expose him, but he's still one of the best SS's in the NFL. There aren't many SS's who are great coverage guys...if there were, they'd be FS's who are more valuable.

Roy has allowed his mind to be weakened though...he's let the media or fans or both get into his head, and it affects the way he deals with the media and the way he deals with questions about being beaten on the field. A DB has to have a short memory and want another shot at making plays...Roy needs to forget all that crap and just play the game the way he knows how...perhaps this is his intention is switching back to #38. I hope he has a great year...it's way too early to give up on him, certainly when there is not a probowl SS waiting in the wings.

And the myths keep coming ...

39. Roy played only on special teams at the Pro Bowl this year

40. Roy blamed Wade Phillips' scheme for his lack of big plays last season

41. Roy blames his teammates whenever he gives up a big play

42. Roy hasn't made big plays since he got his new contract

43. Roy hasn't been very good since his second season

44. ...

From the accounts that I have read Ellis believes Roy is not comfortable in the scheme. I stand corrected if he did not literally state that he blames Wade schemes. However you are splitting hairs because it obviously implies that much. And if you want to be appropriately accurate your utterly false description is an exaggeration in context.

Then let's look at Roy's scheme doppleganger in the aggregate. Roy has lobbied to play closer to the line of scrimmage and this past season he got his wish. His performance hasn't improved even positionally playing to his strength. Also what serious concerns should Roy have, having moved from a 3-4 in 2006 to a...............3-4 in 2007!

Are you kidding? Carrying water for Roy is his raison d'etre. He's a one-man booster club. Like I've said a thousand times, Roy wouldn't have to be torn down if others didn't shamelessly build him up.

bbgun, saying any nonsensical thing you want doesn't make it true. Nobody who defends Roy on this board thinks he's the greatest. Most of us just can't help responding when the quality of bashing dips below 'ignorant' and approaches '********.'

It is not that he just can be a liablity in coverage, his tackling and hitting ability in open space has diminished. I agree and hope that he gets an opportunity to turn things around especially working with Campo because I would love to see the return of the Roy of 3 or 4 years ago.

Woodson was a god fearing man but most certainly was committed to football continuing education and could separate church from play. He also was believed in giving the team a return on investment.

It's borderline maddening how stupid some of the comments directed towards Williams have become.

Well, wait, tomson. You didn't agree that Roy must have been pushing 300 pounds last season? I think it was pretty obvious that God told him to bulk up so he'd sound better in his church choir. I heard he ate his weight in loaves and fishes.

Actually, Roy himself made a statement akin to #17....not overstated like in your post, but he in fact did make mention of the fact he no longer tries to clobber players and attributed it to his renewed faith. And even though I like him, he IS one of the worst coverage safeties in the league. Gonna be real hard to PROVE otherwise.
