Thats funny because i never see RW put on his backside.

I was referring to his wimp status
  1. Its hard to be put on your backside when you are falling over team mates trying to make a tackle and just about miss altogether'
  2. Its hard to be put on your backside when you are pulling the player down from behind by their collar.

Man it's like you say he's the nail so that means he getting ran over or how I take it as. How many plays does RW drag some one from behind and how many plays does he fall over teammates. You make it seem as if RW is this bumbling idoit that only makes tackles from horsecollars and shouldn't be in the NFL.

the theme of this thread seems to be exagguration.

if you don't like roy, you get passionatly upset and overexaggurate his bad play.
if you like roy, you get passionatly upset and call them on it and exaggurate some on your own.

in the end it's just the topic that won't die regardless that even if you add up all the roy bashing into one huge nuclear thread, he's still here and all that time was just wasted venting.

and exaggurating.

This thread could just as easily have been a 'Tony Romo can't win the big one' thread. It's about posting principles and supporting arguments with evidence rather than with misguided emotion.

In reality, I've never even been much of a fan of Roy Williams, though I do admit that I like the big hits. I can easily see him not on the team next year.

I just have a hard time with all of the piling on for the wrong reasons. And it bugs me how personal it has to get. By all accounts, this is a good guy and a Cowboys player. He's played at a very high level for several years. I think it's disrespectful to not at least give him the courtesy of trying to be fair in analyzing his play recently.

that's all that overexaggurating out of frustration. i saw a lot of "bashers" admit that and i think that's the first step towards being more realistic about roy.

yes, he had a bad year. yes, he puts his foot in his mouth at times. but he's here, going nowhere, and all we can really do is hope he comes back to form.

or keep exaggurating cause it makes some feel better.

Keith Davis has played 68 games in his career, including 22 starts, and he has ZERO interceptions in his career.

In 2006, according to STATS LLC, Davis was BY FAR the worst coverage safety in the NFL -- he allowed 18.8 yards per ATTEMPT. Not per completion -- per attempt. The next-worst in the league was 16.3 ypa (by Pat Watkins).

And you wanted Davis to start last season?

Doesn't mean he wouldn't have forced a fumble. ;)

Including special teams --

2002 = 3 of 4 fumbles forced by Roy were turnovers
2003 = 1 of 2
2004 = 1 of 1
2005 = 3 of 3
2006 = 0 of 1
2007 = 0 of 0
Total = 8 of 11

I knew you'd be able to find out that information. It's been so long since my original post that I'm not sure where I was going with that. Let's see, turnovers caused I think...Now that I think about it though the idea of combining Roy's INT's and forced fumbles recovered by Dallas doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I do appreciate you looking up the information though.

According to the Cowboys' coaches --

2002 = 88 solo of 127 total (69.3 percent)
2003 = 58 of 86 (67.4 percent)
2004 = 77 of 106 (72.6 percent)
2005 = 62 of 82 (75.6 percent)
2006 = 53 of 86 (61.6 percent)
2007 = 82 of 115 (71.3 percent)

According to NFL.com -

2002 = 88 of 99 (88.9 percent)
2003 = 55 of 72 (76.4 percent)
2004 = 73 of 94 (77.7 percent)
2005 = 69 of 81 (85.2 percent)
2006 = 52 of 62 (83.9 percent)
2007 = 73 of 92 (79.3 percent)

These were the numbers you posted --

2002 - 90%
2003 - 83%
2004 - 82%
2005 - 86%
2006 - 84%
2007 - 79%

So, either your math was a little off, or you're using some other source with different numbers.

That's odd. I know I rounded on all of them, 2007 for instance, but that doesn't explain why 2003 and 2004 are so far off. Oh well, I'm a bafoon, that's why i asked you to point out a mistake if I made one. I'm pretty sure I'd trust anything you said over my own "research".

Both the Cowboys' coaches and NFL.com have Roy with his second-highest number of solo tackles last season. And they have him with either his second- or third-most total tackles. He should have "stood out" with tackles moreso last season than in most of his other seasons.

Yeah the entire theory was absed on my bad math. Whoops.

It was a compliment. It took 34 pages before someone even tried to prove any of the myths true.

Ha, that's what I figured, I just couldn't tell because I know this is a topic you feel pretty strongly about. You're a real stand up guy Adam and I always appreciate the information you provide.

Two more myths, courtesy of ESPN --

47. Roy will be an Unrestricted Free Agent at the end of the 2008 season.

48. Wade Phillips took Roy off the field in passing situations in 2007 to get Jacques Reeves on the field.

Bump back up so that the other Roy Myth posters can just add to the original rather than rehash the same old junk.
