The Roy Williams Trade Makes Me Want to Puke

It looks like he is still in Stage 1 of the disease that others have been talking about.

If by Stage 1 of the disease, you mean owning your pick 'em league (that is, until someone reset my picks and I got zero right for the week), then yes, I am afflicted.

:laugh2:

Do you not understand how astute I am? Roy Williams sucks!!! I had high hopes for this team at the beginning of the year, especially after watching how our offensive line dominated the Browns, but if you folks can't see that this team is following the same pattern they did last year, you are blind.

Wake me when Wade and *****' Bruce Reid get FIRED!! What a horrifically awful mess this team has become.

I'm not going to attack you for your opinion, you're entitled to it.

I'll just point out one inconsistancy:

You criticize Roy Williams' speed but mention Anquan Boldin - who is much slower.

Williams has averaged 14.8 yards per catch for his career

Boldin has averaged 13.2 yards per catch for his career

Both have averaged 7 touchdowns per season.

So I think that part of your criticism is off-base.

Roy ran a 10.38 100 in highschool and im pretty sure he dropped a 4.3 @ the combine.

Roy has speed.

He doesn't have any holes at all from a physical standpoint.

If you really stop and think about it. All the guy has to do is work hard and he will explode here in Dallas.

They are either going to win or lose.

Either way most here wont be happy regardless of the outcome.

Dallas will be judged in the playoffs.

I don't remember if I mentioned his speed. I think I mentioned his burst. He may be faster in a straight-line contest with Boldin, but when it comes to getting in and out of breaks, I don't think Roy can do spit. He's just got that gangly, can't get open when the team really needs you to, kind of look to him. This team needed a dynamic, quick player in the mold of Terry Glenn, not another doofus.

See ya later. Write if you get work. Be careful of strangers. Don't eat yellow snow.

Who are you to tell him to be careful of strangers or what he can or can't eat. Buddy if you want to eat yellow snow go for it don't let Hostile tell you what to do. And if you want some wooden nickles just give me a holler. :laugh2:

I am not a big fan of the trade and I do believe that his production doe not merit what we spent but saying REW is not any good is just ludicrous. The guy has put up multiple 200 yard games against quality defenses like the Eagles and his YPC numbers belie your statement that he has no burst.

His knocks are that he is not consistent and tends to get dinged. I am hoping that to be a function of the Lions' environment and not of the player himself. Time will tell but I am rooting for the guy because hes one of us now.

Gotcha.

Maybe you're talking about route-running.

And Boldin is likely the better route runner.

But you assume that Boldin was available - the Cards said he wasn't, and he wasn't.

Boldin is currently hurt and not playing. Roy Williams is ready to go out of the box!

He may not have been the type of receiver you were hoping for, but he was the best available.

I thought Jerry had learned his lesson with the Joey Galloway fiasco. I CANNOT BELIEVE he did this. Anyone who likes Roy Williams is a UT homer and that's all there is to it. He has no burst! He has no game!
You must not have witnessed Williams dismantle our defense a few years ago. He had plenty "burst" in that game and got past our defense with ease. He is not as fast as TO, but he definitely is not slow.

These are the types of deals that can be a team's undoing. I actually think Jerry may have it in his mind that Roy Williams is going to become our dominant #1 after Owens retires. Ridiculous. He is gangly and slow and cannot get any separation whatsoever. And when he is lucky enough to see some daylight (likely because the corner tripped over his own two feet), he drops balls faster than anyone.

Let me put it this way. Our lame *** safety Roy Williams can cover our new Roy Williams one-on-one any day of the week if that tells you something.
Seriously, I think you are confusing Roy Williams with Keyshawn Johnson. Now, that guy is as slow as molasses. I'm not calling Williams a burner, but you have to at least respect his speed. He has great leaping ability and is an end zone demon. You also have to take into account the trash that he has had throwing him the ball. This was a great move by Jerry no matter how you try to slice it.

The Roy Williams trade to Dallas makes the Eagles' fans want to puke, too. :nervous:

I am not a huge fan of the trade, but I also don't hate it that much.

I guess my big bones of contention are that the offense goes as the offensive line goes so I don't know that adding RW11 adds as much to us offensively as some people think it does.

My second with the trade is that I think he comes here in the offseason for free or for far less than the 1st and 3rd we gave up in this trade.

Thirdly, I don't like how much salary we have invested at WR. Usually you would only pay one WR premium money, not two. Now if the salary cap is defunct for the future, I guess this doesn't matter.

Lastly, I would have rather used the first rounder on NT, LB or OL as I considered these positions to be a bigger need for us.

Anyhow, RW11 is ours now and hopefully his fans are right and his detractors (such as me - too often injured, too inconsistent, not enough production) are wrong.

Why is everyone so worried about our 2009 first round pick? It most likely will be a late round pick, same goes for our 3rd and 6th. We still have 9 picks next year as well as one of the premier young receivers in the league. Only we get him this year. Give it a rest already.

Because football is a young man's game and every pick you give up is a lost chance at adding a young, healthy body to the lineup.
