He's no Clinton Portis, I can tell you that much. Aren't you guys getting worried about his durability? He's had some flashes, yes, but its a long, grueling season, especially for a running back. He's like a sports car, looks sexy as hell when its running right, but its always in the shop getting worked on.

Oh, you mean the Clinton Portis that had to leave the Denver game last season because of a bruise? You mean the Clinton Portis that had to leave the first Giants game after getting hit? You mean the Clinton Portis that limped off the field twice in the first Philadelphia game? You mean the Clinton Portis that got shaken up in the Rams game and had to leave the game? You mean the Clinton Portis that had to get helped off the field/limp off the field twice against the Cowboys after getting tackled? You mean the Clinton Portis that had to leave the game in the second Philadelphia game and couldn't come back in the 4th quarter? You mean the Clinton Portis that got an arm injury in the Tampa Bay game and missed quite a bit of action?

Yeah, you're right. Julius Jones is not Clinton Portis. Julius is forced out of the game with major injuries that prevent him from playing. Portis gets a big hit or hard tackle, and he has be taken out of the game. I guarantee you if the Commanders try to run him like last season, he won't last long enough into the playoffs to help you with your "sure-thing" Superbowl run.

julius has had a lotta down time in two seasons. i'll grant ya that.

but guys with his burst and cornering don't grow on trees. he has shown flashes of the kind of rare ability that will buy extended patience from coaches and fans. i don't see how anybody, after seeing some of the gem runs he's produced in his two seasons here, could avoid thinking to themselves - "hey, self, this guy julius Jones could be one of the great ones." he has moves that absolutely require slo-mo instant replay.

and i'm not knocking barber either. kids a solid workhorse-type back who will only get better with time. he seems well-rounded and displays a toughness that compliments JJ's flash.

maybe i'm alone - but i reeeeeeally like our RB situation right now. we gotta a coupla talented and very young ones. talk about "tread on the tires". sweet.

when i'm thinking of holes on this team - i'm NOT thinking of the RB position.

I am very interested in seeing how TO's presence affects Julius's effectiveness. I'll definately give him another year before I pass ultimate judgement. He has certainly shown flashes of greatness. But the greats also show off their skill off on a consistent basis.

I've spent time thoroughly analyzing game film of JJ and MB3 and I know who the better back is despite what the JJ fans think.

I :(

Nors is on life support at the DCC...probably only a matter of time before his alias here is terminated as well...he's got to keep any thread aline as long as possible

Can we depend on Julius Jones if we are going to make a serious run at a title?

I think it's time we took a hard look at the running back situation, I really can't see us going into the season with the same collection of backs we have now. I don't feel there's room on this roster for MB3, JJ and TT and I'm going to make a bold prediction:

Julius Jones won't be a dallas cowboy in 2006

The reason I feel this way is that I think that JJ and Parcells are cooking something up for a potential trade. He has talent but he's too fragile and I'm sick and tired of him being injured. He lacks toughness and isn't dependable, and when you play for a coach like Parcells that's not a good thing. The season is 16 games plus another potential 3 or 4 in the playoffs. So why keep a guy on this roster that we can't even count on for more than 8 games in a season? He's part of the reason that Bledsoe took a lot of hits and the pass protection was unbearable at times. Also he drops the ball a lot and we need a back that can make plays out of the backfield in the passing game if we are going to go anywhere.

Marion Barber the 3rd is more than proven he can move the chains and handle the job full time. He is also the better blocker/receiver. Also Tyson Thomson is a solid prospect and could be good compliment to MB3

I think we should trade JJ for a 2nd round pick right now and wash our hands clean right now while we can get value for him. In fact we should inquire about a pontential trade package involving JJ and Henson if we sign Harrington.

We can draft another back in the later rounds to develop or sign a veteran or young back cut from another team during training camp.

Any thoughts?

Ok, I didn't take the time to read all 11 pages of this thread and while I do realize the person that started this thread is entitled to their own opinion I'm wondering if they're on crack. Trade JULIUS JONES?????***! There is no way we will be trading him. The guy was out or not near 100% most of last season and he still was within a couple yards of 1000. He is the future of our backfield, just watch and see what happens in year 3.:laugh2:

No, it isn't.

I'm pretty sure it is Nors too...maybe he is using a different IP, but the posts all look like his trademark stuff and as I mentioned there is a near verbatim post on the DCC by Nors

Considering that Nors lives on the east coast, and this guy lives on the west coast...nors may do many things but somehow I doubt he is going to travel between coasts just to try and fool a few people.
