The scouting report on Taco is much different than what many people are claiming

Simple fact is that most DE don't win many battles against offensive NFL tackles. If a player has one sack per game he is an all-pro. Guessing on average that an opponent passes 32 times. (Yes, I'm too lazy to look up the exact number). That means the tackle won 31 of the 32 times. pretty simplistic reasoning, but if a DE can win one time in 32 tries, he's doing great. Too early to say how any of them are doing or project their career for boom or bust.

Not only that, but DEs (or tackles for that matter) sometimes put on a great pass rush that would've ended up being a sack, but the QB just makes a great escape move and takes the sack away from him. Romo did this all the time when he was younger. Not getting the sack doesn't always mean the pass rusher didn't do a great job. Hurries result in bad throws and sometimes interceptions, so they're just as important.

People are deawing conclusions on Taco while he's going up against the best LT in football and potentialy on of the best RT's. Frankly, if Taco had been winning these battles I would have been worried about Smith and Collins.

I see Taco as an 8 sack guy who is strong against the run. And thats OK for a #28 pick. But when he goes up against Smith and Collins, he isn't going to win many battles.
Excellent I also see him as a rotational guy that can provide 6-8 sacks a season. Not a war daddy but definitely like a serviceable player like an Anthony Spencer or maybe (cross my fingers) Greg Ellis.

Hard to say what he will do. Heck it took Ware 3 games in the reg season before he registered his 1st sack. We just started training camp. lol

To be fair, coordinators probably had to deal with Ware early or learned to in a hurry. Ware was that good.

Give it time Taco, you have a better chance with Rod than most DC;s.

I think anyone making an issue of what Taco will be or will not be right now is a bit of a reach. Taco is facing off in camp with guys like Tyron who has made All Pros look like little kids. At 6'06" 277 he clearly is a different type of DE than a guy like Ware who came in as a 3-4 LB

of course. i think any fan of the team wants him to be good, but some of us just say "been down this road, its going to be iffy" both are fine. but yes hes up against a heck of a line. i personally agree with most fans on here, gotta give it time. Do i personally think hes going to be the next best thing, no. I do feel he ll be capable in due time with maybe a flash here and there, who knows i could be wrong.
