The longer Garrett stays the team will continue this pathetic trajectory. For whatever the reason(s) is or are, this team is not going to magically turn it on and run into the playoffs. At the end of this season, Garrett is gone. It will be a embarrassing mess, for all concerned but there is a simple solution and the sooner the better.

Garrett should step down as HC. Garrett can save himself a lot of media beatings, he can give Jones a face saving way out, and the Cowboys public relations department can control the narrative. It's the best solution to a situation, where everyone knows how this story is going to end.

Why would he do that? When was the last time a NFL Headcoach stepped down midseason leading his Division and still very much in Playoff Contention. Its not really the Cowboys success but the NFCE Failures but Jerry wont care.

Thats the Facts. Garrett will be here till his Contract runs out.

You want a coach who has his team in first place in their division to step aside? LOL How about you let him lose the division race first rather than being a premature wanker?

His undershirt has an iron-on "#Finish" on it. You dont know who you are dealing with if you think the guy would lose face like that

Unfortunately, it looks like Garrett will be the head coach until hell freezes over.

It's not going to happen. Garrett will coach as long as Jerry keeps him on.

A lot of the member of this board seems to be as delusional as Jerry Jones! Why should a Coach stepping down with the Divisio lead?? Honestly, i start to think: if JG wins the East, he will get an extansion. Jerry will say he deserve it because of the bounce back!

If Jones and Garrett want to absorb all this punishment and going forward it's just going to get worse every game the Cowboys lose, then fine. They make a bigger, nastier, and second guessed bed every time the Cowboys stink up the field and they stunk it up again yesterday. As long as Garrett is there, they'll stink it up again.

Do you really think JG will step down after that slobbering old drunkard teared up on national TV and proclaimed his love. This franchise is so pathetic it deserves to lose every game until Jerry becomes worm dirt.

Never happen.

Garrett's priority #1 is self preservation. Always has been, always will be. He would never do anything that would look bad for himself or his career prospects. He will have to finally be sent away - kicking and screaming - for this nightmare to end.

You have to admit that we are only in first place because the rest of the NFC East is horrible. Tell me a year that our record would get you in the playoffs except this one. We are in the hunt for a playoff game but only because the NFC is historically bad. oh and with JG we are VERY likely to miss the playoffs even in a horrible division.

He won’t. He knows his job here is over at years end. We won’t win any more games whether it’s JG or someone else on the sidelines.

With his Eagle? I highly doubt it but I guess anything's possible

I think it will be a mutual departure.

I’m not sure of the exact date his contract expires after the season. But we’ve already heard rumors of other teams interested so most likely that’s how it will end us with Garrett signing with another team.

Then Jerry will pursue a new HC hopefully before the Draft. Jerry likes making a splash during Super Bowl week . That might be the time. Unless there’s an asst coach that’s still playing
