Wow. I skip most of sdogo's posts, including that one in this thread. But you're right: that analogy was inappropriate. I think some posters in this thread should consider staying away from their keyboards after drinking too much during games we lose.

The sky might not be falling but the writing is on the wall. The Cowboys in the Wade Phillips era have always been a team that beats themselves more often than they lose a game due to simply getting outplayed. I think Green Bay is the only game this year where we got outplayed in some aspects, but the Packers still got help from RW fumbling and outright terrible officiating on the Felix fumble.

The Cowboys beat themselves in the first game against the Giants and they beat themselves yesterday. When your QB goes for almost 400 yards, 3 TDs and a 120 rating and you still lose, you beat yourself. Momentum is everything, and the game swung on Barber's fumble. You go from a potential 17-7 halftime lead to 14-10 deficit. Folk's missed kick didn't help things either.

My point is, is that championship teams don't beat themselves. Whether it's on a turnover at the worst possible time or a drive-killing false start by Flozell, the Cowboys do it on a consistent basis. Winning a Super Bowl is all about heart and mental toughness and Dallas hasn't had either for years. I still think this team will make the playoffs, though losing the division is a real possibility, but it stops there.

Look what happened to the Patriots.. aren't those supposed to be the two greatest teams, like, ever? This is the NFL, teams lose.. heck, the Saints didn't even win today--- the Commanders lost.. We lost to a team with their backs against the wall, a hated division rival, at their place, in bad conditions.. it happens.

The passing game was dynamite.. Romo was fantastic, Witten, Austin, Roy Williams.. they all showed up..

We dominated the game, really.. we just let them break a few long ones.. this defense has been outstanding lately, so i'm not worried about them.. and the offense seems to have its groove back..

look, we dominated most of the game.. they just broke a few big plays and got a few ref's blown calls go their way.. we are 8-4 and still leading the division.. we go 2-2 the rest of the way and we'll be fine.. and this team doesn't look like they'll lose their cool, unlike some of our teams in the past... and unlike some of the posters on this board.

I hate to break the news to you, but overall the officiating was very good in the game. The only "missed" call I can think of was holding on Jacob's big run down the sideline. However, the holding was downfield and not at the LOS, so alot of times the refs just dont call that. Other than that 1 hold not called, the officiating was pretty legit surprisingly. I was expecting to get gang raped by the refs, but it never happened.

Best case scenario 10-6 with wins over SD and Philly IMO. Think the Saints route em and Foreskins bite em in the butt. Does this get em in the playoffs?

Not without help, they would need some teams to lose. Too many scenarios to go over, just remember that wins over SD and Philly are not controlling their own destiny.

That is exactly what I don't get about this Dallas team. This group has never won a thing, why were we not desperate? Why are they not desperate every week? Is it because at half time all Phillips could muster up is "we'll be ok"?

We need to be the desperate team week in and week out.

Sadly thats what this team and a large part of the posters on here have become, ok with mediocrity.

Its not that everybody is ok with mediocrity, it is what we have to settle for. Sure, we all would love to be sitting here undefeated, but that is not reality.

The reality is that we need to win atleast 2 more games to have any shot at the playoffs.

What would you have us do??? Most of us have been Cowboy fans since early childhood, we are not going to boycott the team or stop watching games or posting on Cowboyzone, so what exactly do you expect us fans to do then to accept reality???

Well that just seals it. We're in!!!!!!!!! Got news for you. We struggled to beat the Eagles and the Skins (at home). Those wins guarantee nothing. Dlon't get me wrong. I hope we win out, but I'm not jumping back on the bandwagon until this team shows me something when it matters most. Been burned far too many times.
