..reminds me of Jack Murphy Charger stadium. Finally gave up the ghost few years ago. San Diego did not want to spend millions building another one. Spanos (craphead) got greedy, moved Chargers to LA, rather than try to work something out.

We may have a nicer stadium, but they have a better GameDay experience. Their fans put ours to shame when it comes to noise.
The noise factor can also be attributed to both ends of AT&T stadium open to outside in end zones for Party Pass and larger overall size.

I wouldn’t describe Super Dome as a better fan experience . Not unless you’re a Saint fan.

The City of San Diego is actually more to blame. They couldn’t generate enough interest to raise taxes or sell bonds to build a new stadium.

Californians already heavily taxed is difficult sell to the public and why the Raiders are moving and why the Rams and 49er owners all footed the bill personally. Same for Warrior owners.

I remember seeing an image YEARS ago comparing the Astrodome (which used to be the eighth wonder of the world) looking tiny next to their new stadium.

...yeah, I agree. I think San Diego just threw in the towel. The tax situation and lot of money being displaced already, San Diegans they didnt trust the sources meeting them halfway.

I was last there about 7 years ago. Its not that small, it holds over 70k which is pretty typical for an NFL stadium. It's kind of like being in a huge basketball arena. My only complaint was I remember not being able to get to certain sections off the ramps in the stadium and sometimes had to go down to go up or down. Its an interesting design, but a fun place.

On a side note what were your thoughts on Texas Stadium?

Never made it to the old Texas stadium....

Honestly...I was pretty disappointed w/ the new stadium. It's well built... but the problem is your seats are too far from the field. I was in the 3rd ring...1st row.....so my view was unobstructed. Still the players looked tiny....and that monstrosity of a screen has got to go. It takes way from the game. You end up watching that jumbotron 80% of the game because you can't see the players. I've got a ton of complaints about the new stadium and the way they run it. It's all about making money....and high pressure sales. They want you inside that stadium...in the party pass area...where they got you trapped...and bombard you w/ sales people...time shares...car sales...lotto sales. Thought that was inappropriate. They have guards posted @ each entrance inside the stadium...so you really can't walk around and check out the seating for other games. Not a lot of tailgating in the Cowboys parking lot.

That I would agree with. That city lives and dies with their football team. When Brees got hurt a couple weeks ago...you could literally feel a depression overcome the city. Not sure what they are gonna do when he retires. They better start coming up with a plan for life after Brees. Personally... I like Bridgewater. He could be the next guy...but I think they would be wise to get a young guy...and start grooming him.

Actually as popular and historic as the French quarter is it's a major dump in itself. The last time I was there you still had to literally had to step over drunk homeless bodies on the sidewalk.
That was you? Damn, I wasn't homeless, just couldn't walk really straight. And next time, do the polite thing and walk around instead of stepping over, you might have farted and awakened me.

Everything ages and if it's not maintained and cared for, it denigrates in quality. If you love something as they used to love that Dome, it needs to be cared for until it needs to be replaced.

The question is what does the owner plan on doing with the team if someone should offer her a fat payday and what if that someone wanted to move the franchise? Think the city of New Orleans can afford to build a new stadium? Every one of these new ones completed makes the Superdome look worse as LA and Las Vegas will.

It will take 60 years to fully recover from Katrina.

You can still see a lot of signs that something horrific happend there. You can drive around and still see water lines on buildings....all the wooden telephone poles are still all crooked and pushed over..leaning. The cemetaries are really dirty....since they don't bury their dead there...all the buildings are above ground...just collect dirt...and black mold. Pretty disgusting. But still...they have come a long way. A lot of people haven't come back. There are a lot of vacant buildings downtown that used to have businesses. Sadly...people just made the decision to stay away...and not take the chance of having their lives torn to shreds again. Can't blame them.

I don't blame people for not returning. It was explained to me that NO is basically city sitting at bottom of wine glass with top edges representing sea level. That said, NO has always been my favorite city to visit. There is nothing like the vibe of that city as long as you get off streets at reasonable time.

Was the same problem at Texas Stadium, we just have a weak fan base.

Don’t go to New Orleans and expect a clean oasis with deer and butterflies. New Orleans is raw dirty and what I consider the city before you enter hell. Eat food and drink alcohol and listen to obnoxious French music avoid the smell of Bourbon St. Eat a burger at Port Of Call

It’s tiny inside too. I went to a game there and the ceiling is MUCH, MUCH lower than it is at AT&T Stadium.

That’s part of why it gets so loud and the fans know it, so they SCREAM when the opposing team has the ball.
You mean the home teams fans do their job? What a shame.

Agree...... I live 20 minutes from AT&T and have no desire to go to an NFL game there. High school playoff games are great, though. I got to play in Texas Stadium when I played, and it was memorable to say the least. Its the same for kids now. I remember we had an afternoon practice there and Rafael Septien showed up to practice a bit. While there he gave the kicker on our team a few pointers. This was before he got in trouble with the law, or it wouldn't have been as good a visit.
