Our defense is stacked as constructed. we have the ability to wait for this pick the following year. Romo has shown the ability to stay healthy and give us at least another 5 years

What's it with this team picking injured LB in the second round (Lee, Carter)? So are we going to now trade rest of the picks to move up so we can draft a TE in the second? SMH.

Man, I had not idea so many surgeon-psychics were Cowboys fans!

Good grief. I've read, before this pick and after, several draft guides that said Smith was arguably the top prospect in the entire draft class if he was healthy. And the surgeon who did the work is the Cowboys own?

Yet so many on this board know more than the guy who was literally in Smith's knee.

Why not just say "hey, we don't know how this will turn out" instead of being all "they're such idiots"?

I was surprised with the pick, but not shocked. It's high risk/reward. I would have liked Robinson personally, but I'm confident that they've done just a tad more research than I have on these guys. Maybe just a tad.

Talking about doing a 180 from yesterday emotion wise! Dumb!

Why the hell do we love to use 2nd round picks as gamble throw away picks?? Bennett, Escobar, Gregory, and now Smith?!?!?

We are always trying to get great things on the freaking cheap!!! :banghead:

Pretty sure the team doctor told them Smith will play again....just needs adequate time to heal. Maybe the doctor is wrong. We will see... I think he plays 2017.

I don't care what the doctor told them.

You don't burn the 34th pick in the draft on a player in that situation.

This is Dallas getting cute and you have to be some kind of Cowboy homer to sit here and applaud this pick.

Im not sure if thats the point Our horrendous defense that will be missing its two starting defensive ends that didn't use a first round pick on defense, still hasn't drafted a player that can help them on defense next year

This pick was so bad that I'm now questioning Ezekiel Elliot's talent.

I'm not. However, this is awful. This is what teams that are loaded do. I know their plan, they are going to get 1 more year out of Ro, and then Smith will come in. Next round we will pick a QB that won't play a single down in 2016 as well!!!!

Well, I don't know that Smith can't contribute next year. I haven't seen anything that says for sure he cannot. Like I said, I would have preferred Robinson myself. I was hoping for Dodd, but that didn't happen either. Having Elliott will help us control the game clock and keep their defense on the field. And we get two DE's back in the fifth game so that'll help.

Yes, right. This is no different than trading pick #34 this year for a top 10 pick next year. It's a good deal.

Well... Yeah it is. 1st round you get a 5th year option. We'll get Jaylon for even less.

And word is, he may not even be ready for 2017.

ALSO by that time he'll still need a lot of work.

I really don't like this pick.

Great player but I wish we would stop taking such big risks in the second... Absolutely none of them have worked out well since Lee--- and that's even questionable.

If healthy, Goff would not have gone first. Jaylon Smith would have.

If I was better looking, had a billion dollars and could sing Stairway to Heaven like Robert Plant, I would do better with the ladies

This is s jerry pick all the way
He thinks he is fooling everybody and getting the better of them and they are laughing at him

He wants to take risks to luck out with a home run instead of building a team because he doesn't know the first thing about it

Someone bookmark this post so if/when Smith goes to the Pro Bowl we can all remember that we who didn't go all histrionic are simply "homers".
