I’d rank Garrett pretty much as his record would indicate. Average to slightly above average.

And that’s pretty much where I’d rank our overall talent level during most of his tenure.

The more talent he’s had healthy on the field , the better his record.

With an average front office and coaching staff we’re very dependent on our talent level.

I may have him ranked slightly lower beside of his past failures to have the team ready for playoff games and repeated clock mangagement issues that most learn to avoid while playing Madden when they are 14. He also seems(yes I’m not there) to do very little coaching while on the sideline. To me that’s explaining and instructing. I’m not sure he really knows what he should be doing while down there. The adjustment thing might be overstated, but the 7? Sacks by the Falcon dude was just stupid.

I do continually give him credit for rebuilding the roster and us not being terrible which is no small feat.

I think to properly evaluate Garrett we must consider the dysfunctional situation we have here . No HC is set up for success with how our franchise is run.

Ultimately the measurement I use on a coach or anyone in Mgmt is; are we in a better place than when they took over?

My answer is yes. That doesn’t mean we of course would like to be in a better place. It doesn’t excuse the mistakes or lessen the disappointments.

And then I ask. What is the better answer given the obstacles we face with our dysfunctional situation? I don’t have one and why I think we ride this out unless it totally collapses.

Every other coach? If Foles would have stunk it up in the playoffs last year like he did last night, the coach would have been screwed. Foles is like Flacco, he has a good post season, gets the big contract (not that Foles has a contract anywhere close to Flacco), and then sucks the rest of his career. Foles is ok being #2 because he can't (or didn't) make it as a #1. It was the system that held him back.....riiiigggghhhhtttt. With that said, he is a really good backup for Philly. He gets the job done and knows his place. Rant over. Sorry about that.

If the cowboys hired me I can 100% guarantee I would be better at clock management than JG. It wouldn't even be close. That's what makes alot of the younger generation get aggravated with JG. Frederick is a huge loss. His loss effect's the entire line. That's the reality.

It just can not be an excuse for the coaches though if the wheels fall off.

They will have had a few weeks to prepare for this and 1 hole in the boat that isn't the QB shouldn't sink the boat.

If Dallas fails this year then Jason Garrett just can not escape because of this 1 injury.

We can not have a coach that makes his team so fragile that the whole thing falls apart with an injury.

If we fall apart due to Frederick being out as in the line breaks down and Dak finds himself forcing plays I would fault coaching strategy.

The bigger problem in losing Travis is Zack is already hurting. The possibility of losing or at least not having 2/3 of our Pro Bowl talent is a concern. And that’s assuming Tyron stays healthy all season.

If you never played you have no idea. You can run no huddle, spike, call timeouts, audible, call certain plays to either get a first down to seal victory or route trees that are close to the sideline. It's a simulation, the clock, time and rules are exactly the same. JG sucks.
