Seriously, does no one on this board actually HAVE cancer themselves...or family members who have it?
My mother had breast cancer 7 years ago and I don't particularly enjoy being reminded of it every time I read a thread on this board.
It's completely unnecessary for two reasons:
1. Do we really need to use such an extreme term to describe a problem player?
2. There is no such thing as a "team cancer." There is no such thing as one player who can ruin an entire team. Anyone who thinks one player can bring down a team of 53 men all by himself is a complete idiot.
The only cancer that needs to be cut out is this offensive, idiotic term from everyone's vocabulary.
My grandfather died 2 weeks ago of cancer and my mom has battled both lung and breast cancer. I'm a physical therapist who regularly works with patients who have cancer. Having said that. I have NO PROBLEM with the word being used. We all understand why it's used. A "team cancer" is someone negative who spreads his negative stuff around like a disease - ultimately destroying the team. We all know it's not the same as ACTUAL cancer.
What's next? Every vet or someone who lost someone in war being offended by a Zone member saying "That game was a war!" or "What a battle!" or "We got killed out there!" Give me a break.
Lighten up America and try not to be offended by every little thing.
I just re-read this and it may sound a bit harsh, but I'm just tired of the sensitivity and PC stuff.
