The Tight End Bermuda Triangle

I know you don't like him but at least be honest about the dude.

Your claims about Schoon and Spann are fantasy. Neither one of them has shown what Ferguson did in 2023
Now maybe Ferg is done or 2023 was a fluke
we find out this season
Warren is NOT going to drop to us; another fantasy

I have nothing against Ferguson. Being honest last year was not 2023 . I hope 2025 is a heck of a lot better for the TE position and the entire team .

making FALSE claims about four or five yards argue you do have something against him

Holy smoke people, TE isn't even remotely an issue. Ferguson did very well in 2023 and looked poised to keep getting better. And it's nuts to suggest he can't get downfield. He's not a superstar, but he is in the mix among the best after guys like Kelce, Kittle & a few others.

Then when Ferguson went down last year Schoonmaker stepped up and proved he could play, which we really hadn't seen before.

The result is the Cowboys look like they might have one of the better 1-2 punches at the TE in the NFL.

As for Spann-Ford, some here need to tap the breaks. The guy has 9 NFL receptions and some posters are acting as if he has proven something.

2023 was not 7-10 2024 . If fans and more importantly the FO and coaches look at 2024 honestly they cannot look at the team or the TE’s and think success .

I think Fergy is a little undervalued now. I know he had a bad year, but he really was a little Kittle-lite two years ago, despite his testing. I like Schoon more than most, but he is limited in being straight-linish and lacks that mean/crazy streak that Ferg has. I just think they could use what Schoon does do well a little more.

I will say that my observation in watching the BS as coordinator PCs last year was that he seemed to me a little lukewarm on Schoon but always went out of his way to praise Spann-Ford's blocking and physicality. So I'd keep an eye on him, even though I doubt he's ever much as a receiver. (And fwiw, he heaped praise on Luepke, too, going on about how underrated he was and how lucky we were to get him.)
Good assessment of Schoon. He doesnt have that
Change of
Direction ability. He is a good blocker with good
Measurables. Still
Learning how to get open.

Try to calm yourself . Look at 2024 . For a team that has gone through Schultz then Ferguson then spent a 2 on Schoon and 250k on an UDFA in Spann the position needs to produce more or Dallas will be dipping into the draft by next season early for a new TE or Schoon takes over .

I never looked at Schoon as a “ good blocking TE “ .. and Jake had zero TD’s in 2024 . Even Jamal Brooks managed to find a TD pass last year and he was hardly a target .

I like this. Someone thinking at least a little out of the box.
Putting a guy strong enough to block, fast enough to run away from LB's would be a weapon.
All that's cool thinking, but if they sign him as one of the top Edge's can you really line him up on offense? He can't get thru the season without wearing down just playing Edge.

Fergie looked unprepared. He looked slow. He was a clown. We need to see a big change this year. I think he's immature. Time to be a pro.
He got hurt approx 4 games in
Never seemed the same after he returned about game 6/7...

Seemed half step slow, tenative

Remember when Pitts & Mayer were generational talents that were going to transform a franchise?

And Gates, Gronk, Kelce & Kittle were can't miss top 10 picks?

Just sayin' the league as a whole seems to really struggle evaluating the TE position.

Let’s face it Ferguson is in a make or break year and I’m not sure he’s a downfield yardage threat both Schoon & Spann Ford are . Sure he’s probably the best blocking TE of the three but man does live on bread alone . I see Goedert and a previous Kelce type and want downfield options for Dak when Lamb is blanketed .

I look at TE this year like the OL. More pressing needs exist at other areas like the entire defense and RB and I expect little to no draft action at this position .

I read where Tevin the Bear might be a costly FA pickup for Dallas at G . Why ? Aren’t Hoffman & Bass good enough to start the other as depth . Save that $$ and potential draft capital for defense .
I miss Mike Lucky.

There are a couple of really nice TEs that are mocked at the top half of the 1st round.

Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland are the kind of guys that could be a QB's best friend.

Ferguson is never going to be better than an average starter but these two rookies both have the potential to be Dak's safety valve.

I'm not saying they should draft one of these guys....unless one of them falls to #44. That would be an outright steal.

if we come out of this draft with notre dame te mitch evans...i'm not hatin' it.
