Several mentioned them, but those guys aren't quite top 5. Top 10 yes, but not top 5.

I still think my top 5 list on page 1 is the best.

I see - you picked the top 5 Cowboys (teams). Can't argue with those.

1. Staubach
2. Dorsett
3. Emmitt
4.Aikman
5. DeMarcus Ware

The abscence of Lilly and the addition of a youngster who has only been in the league 4 years or so kills this list.

are you serious about Romo?

Yes I believe before his career ends in 8-10 years he will have won us more Super Bowls than Roger, and either tie with Troy or exceed Troy.

Only including people I've actually seen play:

Troy Aikman
Emmitt Smith
Michael Irvin
Jason Witten
DeMarcus Ware

Deion Sanders was a tough omission. He was right there with Smith, Aikman, and Irvin in terms of solidifying me as a fan of the team. Actually, he was probably my favorite player of the 4. I had his jersey, his shoes and everything. I still have a poster of him back in the room I slept in as a kid, I believe. The reason I left Sanders off though is because of the things I've learned about him since I've grown up.

That's a pretty bold statement. Still, how can you call him among the best ever based on something you predict him to do rather than something he has actually done?

favorite 5 (no order) Aikman, Staubach, Irvin, Everson Walls, Dorsett

The best 5- Aikman, Irvin, Larry Allen, Emmitt, Randy White...the best 5 is impossible. Woodson, Dorsett, Staubach, Bob Billy, Bob Hayes, Drew Pearson, etc

I don't count anyone as among the top of the list who wasn't a Cowboy for the majority of their career and who didn't make their name as a Cowboy. Dieion was a rent-a-player for 3-4 years or so, but was just as much a 49er and a Falcon in his career as a Cowboy.
